Helping with city spring cleaning
Warrenton Community Li-
brary has gotten all kinds of
help with spring cleaning.
A week ago, Windermere
Coast offices in Gearhart and
Cannon Beach closed their of-
fices for Community Service
Day, something it has done
every year since 1984. This
year, they chose the library as
its project.
Realtors, agents and em-
ployees weeded, cleaned out
leaves and picked up trash.
A few days later, a local
landscaper, Juan Diego, of-
fered to trim the trees and
large shrubs.
“It rained cats and dogs, we
were soaked but what a great
project,” said Windermere’s
Pam Ackley, who also is a
city commissioner. “Thanks
to Bubba’s for having a great
buffet to warm back up.”
Library personnel were ec-

“We always seem to get
what we need when we need
it,” library staff posted on its
Facebook page.
A vacation Bible school
sponsored by several As-
toria churches will be held
June 25 through June 28.
Theme is “Ocean Com-
motion” and it runs from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. It’s
for children ages 3 through
grade 6. Lunch is included
each day.
Cost is $15 for the four
days or $25 per family,
although no child will be
turned away for lack of
funds.
Sign-ups are being tak-
en at fpcastoria.org and
click on “Astoria Vacation
Bible School.” Organizers
request online sign-ups
be made by June 15. After
that, register on the first
day of VBS.
The group will begin
and end each day at First
Methodist Church, 1076
Franklin Ave., Astoria.
Evening VBS is
‘Shipwrecked’
Christian Church of War-
renton will have its Vaca-
tion Bible School from 6 to
8:30 p.m. June 25-29.
This year’s theme is
“Shipwrecked: Rescued by
Jesus.”
