State meeting on
e-bikes is May 7
Electric bicycles, or e-bikes,
could be allowed on certain
park trails and roads, accord-
ing to a proposed rule change
by the Oregon Parks and
Recreation Department.
The state agency seeks pub-
lic comments on the proposal
and one of those public hear-
ings will be at 6 p.m. May 7 at
Warrenton Community Cen-
ter, 170 S.W. Third St.
The proposed amendment
would allow e-bikes to be
used on trails and roads that
are 8 feet or wider, and along
select areas of the ocean
shore.
E-bikes are defined un-
der Oregon law as vehicles
that have electric motors
under 1,000 watts and trav-
el less than 20 mph. They
currently aren’t allowed
on OPRD-managed roads
or trails, but the proposed
amendment
would
give
state parks flexibility to gov-
ern e-bike use on park prop-
erty.
CCC holds fund-
raiser for students
“The Stars are Out Tonight,”
the annual fund-raiser for
Clatsop Community College,
will be held at 5 p.m. May 5
in Patriot Hall on the college
campus.
The arts and experiences
auction and dinner scholar-
ship fund-raiser is sponsored
by the college foundation
and celebrates the college’s
“stars,” including students,
employees, donors and vol-
unteers.
More than 50 artists have
donated works and there will
be trips to Italy and Bali up
for auction.
Dinner will be provided by
Silver Salmon Grille.

County discovers voter map error
The voters’ pamphlet is-
sued for local races and mea-
sures in the May 15 primary
election contains an incor-
rect map for the three county
commission districts up for
election.
The error was discovered
after the pamphlets were
printed. The Clatsop County
Elections Division will insert
notices with the correct map
into election ballot packets.
Pamphlets should already be
in the hands of voters.
The correct map is con-
tained in the voters’ pam-
phlet available on the Clat-
sop County website, www.
co.clatsop.or.us. The web-
site also offers an interactive
map allowing voters to enter
their address and identify
their commissioner district.
The voters’ pamphlet map
error does not affect the ac-
tual election ballots.
Local contests include rac-
es for county commission and
ballot measures for Warren-
ton, two rural fire districts, and
Clatsop Care Health District.

Ballet school offers public performance

The performance continues
the annual collaboration be-
tween the school and theater
and exposes an average of
1,300 children to the won-
ders of ballet during field trip
performances.
Tickets for the public per-
formance are $15 and can be
purchased at the door.
