Volunteer bell-
ringers sought
Lower Columbia Power
Squadron will serve as bell
ringers for the Salvation
Army in front of Fred Meyer
during the Christmas season,
which began Nov. 24.
It’s the 14th year the orga-
nization, which focuses on
boating safety and instruc-
tion, has been involved in the
project.
Last year, the squadron
raised $16,000 for the char-
ity, which uses the money for
projects in Clatsop County.
All bell ringers are volun-
teers and more volunteers are
needed. Hours are noon to 5
p.m. daily with volunteers
working two-hour shifts.

Reader’s theater
tackles Dickens
A reader’s theater produc-
tion of the classic Charles
Dickens novella, “A Christ-
mas Carol,” is set for four
nights in December. This
touring production includes
early Christmas carols.
Tickets are $5 to $15. Shows
are at 7 p.m. Dec. 6, 7, 13 and
14 in the McTavish Room
above the Liberty Theater,
1203 Commercial St., Asto-
ria.
