Holiday bazaar,

subject of movie
Free community screen-
ings of a movie about the
effects of digital media on
our children will be held in
Warrenton and Astoria this
weekend.
“Screenagers:
Growing
Up in a Digital Age” will
be shown at 6 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 3, at Warrenton Grade
School, 820 S.W. Cedar Ave.
It begins with a free dinner
followed by the movie. Child
care also will be free.
In Astoria, the movie will
be shown at 2 p.m. Satur-
day, Nov. 4, at The Colum-
bian Theater, 1114 Marine
Drive.
“Screenagers” is sparking
community
conversations
nationwide, as parents and
educators learn how screen
time impacts our lives. Ore-
gon Health Authority and the
county’s Juvenile Prevention
Program partnered to bring
Screenagers to the North
Coast.
Warrenton United Meth-
odist Church will have its
annual Holiday Bazaar and
Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the
church, 679 S. Main Ave.
There will be hand-craft-
ed Christmas decorations,
baked goods and “white ele-
phant” treasures. Lunch will
be served beginning at 11 a.m.
Reformation
events continue
Area Lutheran churches
will have a joint celebration
this weekend of the 500 an-
niversary of the Reformation,
which was sparked by Mar-
tin Luther in 1517.
Nearly all modern Chris-
tian churches can trace their
beginnings to that historical
event.

WARRENTON CITY COMMISSION
AND
WARRENTON BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
The Warrenton City Commission and the Warrenton Business Asso-
ciation will hold a joint meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November
8, 2017. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss goals and plans going
forward. The meeting location is at Warrenton City Hall, Commission
Chambers, 225 S. Main, Warrenton, Oregon. City Commission meetings
are open to the public.
Warrenton City Hall is accessible to the disabled. An interpreter for
the hearing impaired may be requested under the terms of ORS 192.630
by contacting Dawne Shaw, Deputy City Recorder, at 503-861-2233 at
least 48 hours in advance of the meeting so appropriate assistance can
be provided.

A schnitzel and brisket
dinner is set for 5 p.m. in

Talk on coastal
hazards set at
Fort George
Meg Reed, a coastal shores
specialist for the Department
of Land Conservation, will
talk about hazards coastal
communities face and how
climate change factors in at
7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Lovell
showroom at Fort George
Brewery, 1483 Duane St., As-
toria.
The talk is part of the on-
going Nature Matters lecture
series. It is free and children
are welcome. Doors open at
6 p.m. for those wanting to
purchase food or drinks.
Oregon’s Coastal Manage-
ment Program is charged
with the management, con-
servation and development
of Oregon’s coastal and ocean
resources.
Reed provides technical
assistance to cities, counties
and state agencies. Her back-
ground is in marine science,
natural resource manage-
ment and science communi-
cation.
