Health Department in Scenic
John Day, Oregon. If you love the
outdoors and a rural community
setting, then John Day is the per-
fect place for you! As the Health
Department Manager you will be
responsible for the planning, di-
recting, and management of the
various programs and activities
involved in providing public health
services to Grant County, As well
as supervising health department
medical and nursing staff.
Qualified candidates must pos-
sess the following:
• Progressively responsible high-
level executive health care related
administrative experience, prefer-
ably in a public health setting.
• Experience should include
working with community health
care agencies and responsibility
for community contact.
• Bachelor’s Degree in health
business management; or
• A minimum of five years of nurs-
ing experience, at least two of
which are at the supervisory level.
Experience in a public health set-
ting preferred.
• Training and experience that
would be equivalent to a bache-
lor’s degree and three (3) to six
(6) years of experience that
demonstrates the ability to per-
form the duties of the position.
(Equivalency 7-10 years of quali-
fying training and/or experience).
• If requested by Executive Direc-
tor/ Public Health Department Ad-
ministrator, may need to complete
graduate courses (or equivalents)
in biostatistics, epidemiology, en-
vironmental health sciences,
health services administration
and social / behavioral sciences
relevant to public health prob-
lems.
• Must be able to pass a criminal
background check
• Have a valid Driver’s license
with personal auto insurance cov-
erage of $300,000 in bodily injury
and $100,000 in property dam-
age.
• Proof of covid vaccine, or reli-
gious or medical exemption ap-
proved upon hire.
Annual salary for this supervisory
position range from $78,000 to
$120,600 and offers a benefit
package including medical, den-
tal, vision, EAP, life insurance,
401K match, HRA, FSA and gen-
erous PTO.
