CIVIL DEPUTY
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Days/Hours: Monday – Friday -
20 hours per week
Salary/Benefits: $18.91 per hour
with county benefits
Job Duties: This is an adminis-
trative position to the Grant
County Sheriff’s Office. The As-
sistant is responsible to maintain
agency records, which include
confidential matters of personnel
records and issues, receive and
process civil matters and court
papers, and maintain financial
ledgers and duties as directed by
the Sheriff or his designee. An
employee in this position is a con-
fidential employee of the Sheriff.
They are responsible for the over-
all processing of civil papers,
maintenance of a variety of de-
partmental records, and providing
secretarial support for the
agency.
Screening Requirements: High
School diploma or equivalent,
supplemented by additional spe-
cialized courses such as office
practices, law enforcement and
civil law, or a satisfactory combi-
nation of experience and training,
which demonstrate the knowl-
edge, skill and abilities to perform
the duties of the position. Experi-
ence in a law enforcement setting
is preferred. Experience dealing
with the public in a position involv-
ing substantial interpersonal
communication, and the mainte-
nance of records. Must have an
acceptable criminal background
and must maintain this qualifica-
tion at all times during employ-
ment. A criminal background
check will be performed on the
candidate selected.

Hours & Days: Mon–Thurs, 40
hrs. per week during training;
Wed–Sat, 40 hrs. per week after
training.
Salary/Benefits: $4,622 per
month with benefits
Job Duties: Provide supervisory
and investigation services to indi-
viduals placed under supervision
by the courts, Board of Parole
and Post-Prison Supervision, In-
terstate Compact, and Psychiatric
Security Review Board. Commu-
nicate effectively, both verbally
and in writing. Prepare accurate
and complete reports, develop
and maintain effective working re-
lationship with offenders, law en-
forcement personnel, social
service agencies and the general
public. Perform duties with mini-
mal supervision, maintain case
files, and conduct investigations.
Screening Requirements: High
school graduation or equivalent
and two years experience work-
ing with adult offenders, or any
satisfactory combination of expe-
rience and training which demon-
strates the knowledge, skills and
abilities to perform the duties of
the position. A Bachelor’s Degree
in a related field is preferred.
Necessary Special Require-
ments: Possession of, or ability
to obtain, a valid Oregon driver’s
license and must be insurable
under the county’s liability insur-
ance coverage. Possess a De-
partment of Public Safety,
Standards and Training (DPSST)
certification for parole and proba-
tion officers or obtain within one
year of hire. Must have LEDS cer-
tification and CPR/First Aid certi-
fication or obtain within one year
of hire. Ability to pass a criminal
background check.
