Alice Trindle, president of the Grande Ronde Symphony As- sociation, said the performance will feature “a delightful mix of classical piano concerto pieces by the winners of the student categories of the ‘Concerto + Aria’ competition, combined with music from popular movies.” The symphony will be joined by members of the La Grande School District’s Fiddle Club, along with the Grande Ronde Student Symphony for the piece “Dragon Slayer” to conclude the fi rst half of the concert. Yena Cho Lana Emerson Yena Cho, winner of the Advanced Student category, will perform the third movement of Beethoven’s “Concerto No. 3” for piano. Cho was born and raised in Chang-Won City, South Korea. She began studying in the United States as a sophomore in high school. Currently she is attend- ing Walla Walla University major- ing in music and pre-dentistry. “We are very excited to showcase some of the amazing talent we have within the region and particularly highlight these exceptional young musicians,” said Zachary Banks, GRS music director. “The symphony orches- tra will be accompanying our piano soloists, as well as playing four fun pieces from well-known popular movie scores. We are being joined by a number of mu- sicians from the La Grande High School band, which adds excite- ment to the brass and percussion sections of the orchestra.”
