This is the 20th year for the popular event. Like most everything else, the Grant County Quilt Show was put on hold the past two years due to the pandemic. Blue Mountain Eagle, File A variety of quilts will be on display at the Grant County Quilt Show May 20-21 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day. However, the delay also allowed local quilters plenty of time to keep their machines hum- ming while stitching up new creations. What this means for folks planning to attend is the promising prospect of a pavilion that will be packed — wall to wall and floor to ceiling — with a bounty of color and design. “We’ve really missed the quilt show and are looking forward to being back with lots of quilts for everyone to see,” said Karen Hinton, the guild’s president. Local master quilter and teach- er Sharon Holliday Mitchell is this year’s featured quilter. Mitchell will teach a “Knot Today” workshop on Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $25 a person. Lunch will be available for an extra fee.
