NEWS MyEagleNews.com Wednesday, December 15, 2021 Sheriff asks public to ID burglary suspect By BENNETT HALL Blue Mountain Eagle JOHN DAY — After a pair of recent burglaries in John Day, the Grant County Sheriff ’s Offi ce is asking the public to come forward with suspect information and to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior. A suspect has been identifi ed in a bur- glary on South Canyon Boulevard that happened sometime in the past two weeks but was not discovered until Monday, Dec. 6. The second break-in happened on East Main Street on the evening of Wednes- day, Dec. 8. No suspect has yet been iden- tifi ed in that case, and the Sherriff ’s Offi ce is asking anyone with potential informa- tion about the case to call 541-575-1131. A5 Rep. Owens will run again “One (burglary) was a commercial business,” Sheriff Todd McKinley told the Eagle. “The other was an occupied dwelling, and the owners didn’t know they were there until the next morning.” McKinley called the situation “very concerning” and asked members of the public to call with information about sus- picious persons or circumstances in the area or anything else that might help. of my constituents and to build rela- tionships with my colleagues so we can get good work done for all Oregonians. A second count of fail- ure to report as a sex off ender was dismissed. Dec. 2: Glenn Duane Ross, 57, of Prairie City pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and sec- ond-degree disorderly conduct. Ross was sentenced to 18 months of bench probation and 60 hours of community service or work crew time. He was also ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation and a substance abuse assessment and complete any recommended treat- ment programs. A charge of resist- ing arrest was dismissed.
