Corrections Officer
Hours & Days: Full time, varied
shifts
Salary/Benefits: $19.98 to
$24.32 per hour (depending on
qualifications) with full benefits
Job Duties: Perform work in
the care and custody of Adults
in Custody (AIC) in the Grant
County Criminal Justice Facility.
Process individuals in and out
of the facility, provide meal
service and dispense medi-
cine to AIC’s, record keeping,
housekeeping, and other daily
operations in and around the
facility. May be required to deal
with violent and combative
individuals that would require
considerable physical effort.
Screening Requirements:
21 years of age or older for
legal qualification. High school
graduation or equivalency.
Some knowledge of policies,
procedures and techniques
relating to the custody, care and
transportation of AIC’s, and the
applicable laws and regulations.
Possess a Department of Public
Safety Standards & Training
(DPSST) Corrections Certificate
or the ability to obtain within
one year of hire. Pass the physi-
cal abilities testing as required
by DPSST, and a written test
given by the Sheriff’s Office.
Necessary Special Require-
ments: Possess or ability to
obtain a valid Oregon Driver’s
license and be able to meet
the county’s driving standards.
Ability to pass a criminal back-
ground check.

The Grant County Sheriff’s
Office is taking applications to
be placed on an eligibility list to
be considered for future Patrol
Deputy openings. The appli-
cants selected for placement on
the eligibility list will remain on
the list for one year.
Job Duties: Enforces state and
local traffic, criminal and civil
laws and ordinances; investi-
gates motor vehicle accidents,
crimes and complaints relating
to criminal law enforcement;
performs search and rescue ac-
tivities; serves civil paper; does
related work as required.
Screening Requirements:
High school graduation or
equivalency, preferably supple-
mented by college level course
work related to law enforcement
and/or experience as a law
enforcement officer; or any
satisfactory combination of
experience and training which
demonstrates the knowledge,
skills and abilities to perform
the above described duties;
possession of or ability to
obtain a valid Oregon driver’s
license; able to meet County’s
driving standards; first aid and
CPR certification. Employees in
this classification are required
to obtain the Department of
Public Safety Standards and
Training Basic Certificate within
one year from date of hire.
Days and Hours: Full Time –
Varied Shifts
Salary: $21.37 to 26.00 per
hour (depending on qualifica-
tions) with full county benefits.
