JOHN DAY CANYON CITY
Parks & Recreation District
Established in 1989
The mission of John Day Canyon City Parks & Recreation is to help residents in our communities
get out and play - providing safe places, facilities, and programs which promote physical, mental,
and social activity. We get people, especially kids, outside, active, and connected to the community.
We provide the development, care and maintenance for the Seventh Street Complex
including the playground and splash Pad, the John Day City Park and Gleason Pool.
The programs we offer to the community include youth and adult sports programs, a summer lunch program that provides meals
to the youth in our area, as well as, community events like the Daddy Daughter Dance, Mother Son Date Night and our annual
Summer Music Fest.
Volunteers are an integral part of our parks and rec district and continue to be an invaluable resource. This year volunteers and
local businesses volunteered countless hours to install our new playground and splash pad for the community to enjoy.
