ENDLETON — After silent
streets last Halloween,
ghosts and ghouls will be return-
ing to downtown Pendleton this
year.
Trick-or-treating downtown,
the Heritage Haunt, and the Hal-
loween Carnival will all be back
on Halloween weekend.
Pendleton’s activities begin
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30,
with the Halloween Storytime at
the Rec Center Gym. The event
will have activities and a reading
of a holiday book. Every child
will receive a free book.

The spooky caboose returns for the
annual Heritage Haunt at the Heri-
tage Station Museum in Pendleton on
Saturday, Oct. 30.
Treat Downtown on Pendleton’s
Main Street is happening from
3-5 p.m., and the Heritage Haunt
will transform the Heritage Sta-
tion Museum, 108 SW Frazer
St., into a family-friendly holiday
space — both inside and out-
side, from 3-5:30 p.m.
“I am super excited about
being able to come back into
the grounds this year,” said
Shannon Gruenhagen, Heritage
Station marketing and tour
coordinator. “I’m switching it up
a little bit, so we’ll have some
new things, and, of course, the
spooky caboose.”
Gruenhagen said the event is
geared for those 12 and young-
er, so it will be more spooky than
scary.
“We want to make sure little
ones can go through it and not
be super afraid,” she said.
The museum grounds will
also have areas for photos, and
Gruenhagen said to watch for
other surprises.
The timing of the Heritage
Haunt gives people a chance
to stop by after or during the
downtown trick-or-treating. For

These family events are free.
On Halloween, Sunday, Oct.
31, check out the Parks and
Recreation’s annual Halloween
Carnival from 2-4 p.m. at the
Pendleton Convention Center.
There will be booths from com-
munity groups, snacks and a
costume walk.
