AKER CITY — The First Friday

art shows at local galleries. This

Here’s a look at what you can

roads Carnegie Art Center during October.

Form” on Friday at Crossroads
with a reception from 5:30-8 p.m.
Patrons can enter to win a gift

This show is supported by John
and Molly Wilson.
Wynn, a modernist painter from
the Midwest, earned a bachelor’s
of fine arts at the University
of Wyoming. In the “Food and
Form” exhibit, Wynn’s pieces are
renditions of edible creations.
She said the food subjects can, in
some cases, remind the viewer of
natural landscapes — particularly
“Jello on the Water.”
Penning, a South Dakota na-
tive, experienced a life-changing
event after attending her first
pottery class, which launched a
permanent passion for ceramic
artwork. Her work, she said, “is a
reflection of my life and environ-
ment.” She also highlights the
importance of sentiment to her
art, describing scenes of “can-
ning in Grandma’s old blue jars”
and the “chunky stitches on a
vintage patchwork quilt.”
