    STEAK FEED RETURNS
TO RICHLAND
RICHLAND — This weekend
brings the 45th annual Eagle
Valley Steak Feed at the Grange
park on Saturday, Sept. 4, from
4-8 p.m.
Dinner is $20 for steak (plus
baked potato, corn on the cob
and ice cream), or $5 for a hot
dog meal.
Each meal comes with one
raffl e ticket. Additional tickets
can be purchased for $1 each,
or $5 for six. Proceeds from the
raffl e will be used for upgrade
projects and maintenance at
the park.
The ever-popular Silver-
smiths will again provide the
music. This year’s donation
jar has been designated for
Naomi Becktold, the 18-month-
old daughter of Ben and Em-
ily Becktold of Baker City and
granddaughter of Eagle Valley’s
Stan and Dollie Becktold, who
was diagnosed last month with a
rare form of leukemia.
Three-day passes are
available from $50-$130.
Tickets for individual nights
are available as well — Friday
night tickets for adults are
$20; students/seniors/military
are $15 and a family pass is
$50 (for two adults and three
youths). Saturday and Sunday
tickets cost $5 more than Fri-
day prices. Purchase tickets in

MEMORIAL GOLF
TOURNEY IS SEPT. 11
ENTERPRISE — The Enter-
prise-Joseph Lions Club hosts
the Dick Wheeler Memorial
Golf Tournament Saturday,
Sept. 11, at Alpine Meadows
Golf Course in Enterprise.
The four-person scramble
starts shotgun style at 8 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded for
putting and longest drive,
along with Closest to Pin (KP)
contests.
The one-day event is $75
and includes a barbecue with
hamburgers and hot dogs.
Cart and club rentals are avail-
able for an extra fee.
The event raises money for
the Chief Joseph Day Camp
held at Ferguson Ridge Ski
Area — co-managed by the
Lions Club and the Eagle Cap
Ski Club. For decades elemen-
tary school age kids have
found fun and friendship while
learning about journalism, the-
ater and outdoor skills at the
SEPTEMBER 1�8, 2021
popular day camp attended
by at least two generations of
Wallowa County kids.

‘CARBON CHAMPS’
PRESENTATION SET AT
WALLOWA LAKE LODGE
WALLOWA LAKE VILLAGE
— The Wallowology Discov-
ery Center is hosting “Carbon
Champs,” a special presenta-
tion focusing on the role of
trees, Thursday, Sept. 9, at 6
p.m. outside at Wallowa Lake
Lodge. The talk will be given
by David Mildrexler, systems
ecologist, Eastern Oregon
Legacy Lands. The presenta-
tion is free and open to all.

the Labor Day Spectacular at
the Hermiston Raceway, located

Billed as the best three-
day racing event in the Pacifi c
Northwest, the Labor Day Spec-
tacular at the Hermiston Race-
way kicks off Friday, Sept. 3,
and runs through Sunday, Sept.
5, at 81236 N. Highway 395.
The gates open nightly at 5 p.m.
with a fan fest at 6:30 p.m. and
racing at 7 p.m. Speedy’s Grill
