The 40,000-acre planning area is located 30 miles southeast of Prairie City, Oregon and includes the entire Malheur River Inventoried Roadless Area and a section of the Malheur Wild and Scenic River corridor. In summary, the project proposes forest and unique habitat restoration, prescribed burning, and road activities. The Responsible Official for this proj- ect is Craig Trulock, Malheur National Forest Supervisor. The DEIS is available on the web at https://www.fs.usda.gov/pro- ject/?project=50433. The opportunity to comment on the DEIS ends 45 days follow- ing the date of publication of the notice of availability in the Fed- eral Register, published on August 27, 2021. Only individuals or organizations who submit timely and specific written comments regarding the proposed project during a public comment peri- od established by the Responsible Official are eligible to file an objection. For objection eligibility each individual or representa- tive from each entity submitting comments must either sign the comments or verify identity upon request. Comments received, including names of those who comment, will be part of the public record for this project. Comments submitted anonymously will be accepted and considered but will not provide the respondent with standing to participate in an objection process or judicial review for this project. The publication date of the notice of availability in the Federal Reg- ister is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period. Those wishing to comment should not rely on dates or timeframe information provided by any other source. It is the responsibility of all individuals and organizations to ensure their comments are received in a timely manner, within the 45-day comment period.
