A grave- side memorial service will be held Friday, No- vember 27th, 2020 at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Canyon City. Pastor Levi Manit- sas of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship will officiate. Jim was born June 7, 1938 in Ontario, Oregon to Orville and Elizabeth Moulton. He lived most of his life in Seneca, Oregon then moving to Canyon City, Oregon in 1978. Jim graduated from Grant Union High School in 1956, then joined the Army and served in Germany from 1956 to 1958. Jim was a family man. He married Mary Trafton on June 6, 1959 and they later divorced in 1979. He then married the love of his life, Norine Winters. They married November 20, 1982 and had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary, surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim loved golfing and travelling until he and Norine were no longer able to due to his health. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting alongside his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It gave him great pleasure to teach his grandchil- dren and great grandchildren to say Papa before they could say Mama and Dada. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Norine, of Emmett, Idaho; his chil- dren, Joni and Johnny Gibson of Joseph, OR; Danny and Allison Winters of John Day, OR; Michell and Shawn Hill of LaPine, OR; and Tina and Michael Wiley of Huntington, OR; his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Delores and Dunk Ost- berg and his brother Burrel Moulton. These quilts went to some of the peo- ple that were affected by the wildfires this summer. All the time and pieces of the quilts were done by members of the quilt guild, which is still working on other donation quilts. Even though he was retired he was the state director for Dizzy Dean Baseball, enjoyed hunting, umpiring, student teaching and his grandchildren. Box 5327, Mississippi State, MS 39762. Gustav E. Peterson March 24, 1922 – Nov. 14, 2020 Gustav E. “Gus” Peterson, age 98, passed away Nov. 14, 2020, in Redmond, Oregon. A private family urn burial will take place this December, with a memorial service to be held at the Monument Senior Center in Monument, Oregon, at a later date. Gus was born on March 24, 1922, in Ione, Oregon, to Carl and Alverta (Wil- cox) Peterson. He attended Dry Creek Elementary and graduated from Mon- ument High. Gus served in the United States Army from January 1945 to November 1946. After his discharge from the military, he married Ruth L. Scott in Canyon City, Oregon, on November 7, 1948. Together they welcomed two sons, Pete and Lonnie. Ruth passed away Feb. 12, 2011. Gus  worked  as  a  fleet  mechanic  for  Columbia  Power  Co-Op from 1957 to 1986 when he retired. He enjoyed collecting early day engines, tractors and memorabilia. As a volunteer in his community, he volun- teered for his local fire department EMS services, search and  rescue, sheriff’s posse and helped organize the five-year com- munity reunion. Gus was also on the Cemetery and School Boards, was a member of the Oregon Tree Farmers Associa- tion, Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association and took pride in the Monument Senior Center. Gus is survived by his sons, Lonnie Peterson of Central Point, Oregon, and Ture E. (Pete) Peterson of Terrebonne, Oregon; and granddaughter, Turice Ruth Peterson of Nash- ville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alverta Peterson; wife, Ruth Peterson; one older sister and two younger sisters; and his granddaughter, Marissa Peterson. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845. Delbert Eugene Burril July 16, 1939 – Nov. 13, 2020 Delbert Eugene Burril passed away on Nov. 13, 2020. Del- bert was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on July 16, 1939. He moved as a young child with his family to Spray, Oregon, where he finished  grade school. The family then moved to John Day, Oregon, where he graduated high school. He then began working at Safeway as a butcher. It was here he met and married Doris Vaughn on May 10, 1959. Delbert loved people and was a good friend to everyone he met. He had a gen- tle soul and was a jack of all trades. Del- bert worked as a bookkeeper for Edward Hines and then helped build the bowling alley in John Day, where he became a man- ager. He spent 16 years in Alaska building roads and working in lumber camps. In Newport, Oregon, he oper- ated heavy equipment in the rock pit and installed windmills in the Redding area. He reconnected with his first love Doris, and they  remarried on May 10, 2008. They retired on a 40-acre ranch in Oak Run, California. Delbert loved fishing, hunting, camping and just being together.  There was not one day that went by that he didn’t make people laugh. Delbert leaves behind his wife, Doris; a son, Jim Burril, of John Day, Oregon; a daughter, Judy George, of Smith River, Cali- fornia; step-children that he loved as his own, along with five grand- children and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lexi and Vivian Burril, a twin brother Deloy Burril and sister Juanita Burril. Graveside services will be held at the Millville Cemetery on Dec. 4, 2020, at 1 p.m. Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro, California, will be handling services. Roger Raymond Meusborn June 10, 1927 ~ November 19, 2020 Paid for by the family of Roger Meusborn Roger Raymond Meusborn, age 93, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020, in Yakima. Roger was born on June 10, 1927 to Ewald and Louise (Michel) Meusborn, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He was the youngest of four children. Immediately after completing high school in Cedar Rapids, Roger joined the Navy and was stationed on a destroyer, the USS Stormes. Following his discharge from the Navy, Roger attended Colorado State College of Education in Greely. He graduated in 1950 and began his teaching career in John Day, Oregon. On Christmas Day in 1952, he married Edna Kostol, and they had three daughters while living in John Day. His career took the family to Baker City, Oregon, then to Yakima, Washington in 1968. He completed his career at Yakima Valley College as a vocational counselor. After his retirement from Yakima Valley College, Roger and Edna purchased an apple orchard and for twelve years, Roger enjoyed a second career as an orchardist. Roger was a quiet, practical man who loved his family. He enjoyed teaching his daughters many skills including how to change a tire and put on tire chains so they would not be stranded anywhere. He was always supportive and could be counted on for sound advice. Roger was a skilled carpenter and woodworker. He built the first house Edna and he lived in near John Day, and their home was furnished with many of his fine wood projects. Roger enjoyed snow skiing and was a member of the Ski Patrol for many years, at Anthony Lakes and White Pass Ski Areas. He also hunted and participated in competitive shooting in his younger years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Elizabeth Moulton; his brother Gene Moulton; and his children Mark and Traci Moulton. Roger is preceded in death by his wife Edna, his parents, Ewald and Louise Meusborn, and his siblings and their spouses, Wilma (Paul) Olson, M. Michel Meusborn, and Vernelle (Frank) Koberstein. He is survived by his three daughters, Stefani (Calvin) Meusborn-Marsh, Lisa (Mark) Herke, and Melanie (RE) Cornelius. He is also survived by two cherished grandsons, Trace and Alex Cornelius, a sister-in-law, Virginia Kostol, and nieces and nephews.
