In the last 10 years the Oregon Community Foundation has awarded almost $2 million in grants to Grant County nonprofi ts, schools,
and local government. Most of these dollars have come from OCF community grants, the Shelk Advised Fund, and other donor funds
and initiatives.
Nonprofi t grant recipients have included: Blue Mountain Healthcare Foundation, Families First of Grant County, Juniper Arts Council,
CASA, Heart of Grant County, Lake Creek Youth Camp, Monument Senior Citizens Association, Greater Prairie City Community
Association, and the City of Granite, among many others.
Th e Oregon Community Foundation was established in 1973 as a permanent endowment for community improvement throughout the
state. Stuart and Pauline Shelk from Ochoco Lumber Company were among the fi rst donors to establish a fund with OCF – the Shelk
Advised Fund.
Grant applications to the Shelk Advised Fund are made through OCF Community Grants.
• Spring cycle application opens December 1 and closes January 15 with funding in May.
• Fall cycle application opens June 1 and closes July 15 with funding in November.
