Grant County Air Search
What is Grant County Air Search?
We Find You
Grant County Air Search was created to provide a first response air search unit for the Grant County Sheriff’s office
and Oregon State Aeronautics Division. Our purpose is to assist in the location of downed aircraft, lost hunters and
other missing persons primarily in the Grant Count area.
The goals of the group are to provide a viable air search unit, promote aviation safety and proficiency and to provide
social activities for the membership.
Grant County Air Search meets for business and training on the 3rd Tuesday of the months of January, March, May,
July, September, November, with a holiday potluck dinner in December. We also have social events such as potluck
dinners, flights, and work with the airport to provide airplane rides at the annual fly-in the 1st Sat. after labor Day
each Sept.
You do not need to be a pilot to be a member of Grant County Air Search. We have many non pilot members who
serve as aerial observers or assist in ground duties as needed during a search. Individuals must be 18 years old to
become a member.
To be qualified as a search pilot you must hold at least a private pilot or sport pilot certificate, a current third class
medical certificate, have logged a minimum of 200 flight hours, meet all recent flight experience requirements as
required be Federal Aviation regulations and demonstrate your skill with an air search coordinator.
