Our community has made it possible to
create new and wonderful recreation
opportunities. JD/CC Parks & Recreation
District with help from the City of John Day
have recently opened a new playground and
have plans for a new splash pad set to open this
summer. Grant County Economic
Council (GCEC) and Eastern Oregon Trail
Alliance (EOTA) have led the eff ort with
support from multiple public agencies to open a new bike park as well…. all at our beautiful
7th Street Sports Complex! With help from the Forest Service and EOTA, funding has also been
received to complete the Magone Lake Trails. Along with all of these accomplishments the City
is underway on recreation trails at the Innovation Gateway and has presented design concepts
for the Gateway and Oregon Pine Mill Site that include an open-air community pavilion, an
event lawn and parking for up to 75-vehicles. Th ese are just a few of the projects that are in the
works, none of which would be possible with the continued support of our community.
