NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR
IN OUR TOWN
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) a registered 501(c)(3) non-profi t that
builds beds for kids that might be sleeping on the fl oor or don’t have
a bed of their own. We are a volunteer-driven organization. We run
off of donations. All donations made to our Chapter stay within our
Chapter and are used to build and provide beds to kiddos in the areas
we cover.
The John Day Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides services in
Eastern Oregon to Grant, Baker, Harney, and Malheur Counties.
We established our Chapter over a year ago. We held our inaugural
build in August and since then to the end of 2018 we delivered 30
beds to children with this need. So far this year we have delivered 17.
SHP as a whole in 2018 used 14,780 volunteers, built 4,144 bunk beds
(total of 8,288 beds) and got 9,253 kids off the fl oor.
SHP is the only charity providing hand-made bunk beds to children
who don’t have beds of their own. We provide these beds free of
charge. Through the wonderful efforts of volunteers and generous
donations, bunk beds are built, assembled and delivered to those
children with this need. Some of these young children are living
without the luxury of sleeping on a bed or even laying their heads on
a pillow. We serve children ages 3-17.
Children do better emotionally, mentally and physically when they
have a space of their own and are able to get a good night of sleep.
This carries over to their studies and education. If a child is in need,
my family will do what we can to help them out.
We partner with organizations, churches, businesses, and
individuals to build them at events called Build Days. We do both
public and private builds.
At SHP, we have a mission: NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN
OUR TOWN!
