Dorothy M. Braendlein, 87, died on May 4 at the Blue Mountain Care Center in Prairie City, Oregon. Per her
request there will not be a service.
Dorothy May was born in Shelton, Washington on May 1, 1931 to Walter and Muriel (Curtis) Hall. The
family later moved to Irondale, Washington, where she was raised with her sister and two brothers. They then
moved to Chimacum and Dorothy attended all twelve years of school there, graduating from Chimacum High
School in June of 1949.
Dorothy met Warren Braendlein in Squim, Washington. They met and fell in love in December of 1966
and were married on October 7, 1967 in Coeur;Alene, Idaho. Dorothy and Warren raised six children together.
She worked as a waitress, a seamstress and a cottage parent. Dorothy worked very hard to take care of her family.
Dorothy lived in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California and Colorado. She loved to travel, and she got to see
many beautiful places. Dorothy really enjoyed sewing, crafts, card making, hiking, camping and spending time
with her family. Dorothy’s favorite color was peach, her favorite season was spring and she loved flowers. Dorothy
also loved winter, because of how beautiful the snow was, just like her. Dorothy loved her dogs and cats. She always cheered on the Mariners,
the Seahawks and the Super Seattle Sonics. Dorothy had many great accomplishments; her children were always her number one favorite. Her
husband was very special to her too. She valued her family more than anything.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Warren; children, Sandra Noddell ( Jim) of Rochester, Washington, Nancy Rinkes (Terry) of Beaver
Creek Oregon, Muriel Olin of John Day, Oregon, Russel Olin (Phillis) of Eagle River Alaska and Donald Olin of Port Townsend, Washington;
11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. We would like Dorothy to be remembered for her passion in other
people’s happiness. How wonderful and giving to other people she was. She has always put other people first, with so much grace, so effortlessly.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents; son, Gary Jo; and her brother, Cecil Hall. For those who would like to make a memorial donation
in memory of Dorothy, the family suggests either the Blue Mountain Care Center or the Grant County Food Bank through Tami’s Pine Valley
Funeral Home & CS - PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834. Thank you for your kindness. Online condolences may be shared at
www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com.

50TH ANNIVERSARY
Baldwin
Keith and Avanell Baldwin are
celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary. They were united in
marriage Nov. 8, 1969, in John Day.
Their two children, seven grand-
children, and three great-grand-
children invite everyone to an open
house from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May
18, at Two Rivers Park in Adrian.
Janette Joy Tureman, 88, resident at Highgate Memory Care in Yakima, passed away on Thursday, May 9. She was born Nov. 30,
1930 in John Day, Oregon to Henry A. George and Lucille Tillson George. She graduated from Dayville High School in 1948
and traveled with a good friend throughout New Mexico before returning home to help her mother on the ranch. She participated
in barrel racing competitions and was even a Princess of the Grant County Rodeo. A rodeo dance was where she met the cowboy
of her life, Dick Tureman.
Janette and Dick were married on May 27, 1951 in Dayville, Oregon. They had three daughters and remained in the John Day
Valley until the spring of 1967. The family then moved to Ellensburg, Washington where Janette attended Central Washington
State College. She graduated with distinction, earning a B.A. in Education in 1971 and her Masters in 1992. She began teaching in
the Ellensburg School District Fall of 1971. First, at Lincoln Elementary and finishing her 24-year career at Mt. Stuart Elementary.
Janette was a member of the United Methodist Church and very active with their ministries. Many Kittitas Valley residents will
remember her as a volunteer at the Methodist Church Clothing Center, Kittitas County Christmas Baskets, Friends of the Library, Washington Native
Plant Society and RSVP.
She was an avid exercise and outdoor enthusiast, enjoying bird watching, aerobics, jazzercise, cross-country skiing and hiking. Janette always said she
could hike for miles in the mountains but hated mopping the kitchen floor.
She was a passionate reader and a lifetime learner. Travels included a 12-day horseback trip into the Andes’ Mountains of Peru, Holy Land Tour in Israel
and the Journeys of Paul in Turkey. Highly favored of all travels was her numerous hikes into the Grand Canyon. Her last was at the age of 74 when she
and Dick took six of their grandchildren with them.
Over the past several years her journey with dementia inhibited her love of walking and freedom to explore.
Mom, now you can -
Step,
Breath,
Gaze with Admiration, Praise,
Smile.
No more closed doors.
You are now free to walk . . . walk with the Lord!
Janette was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. She is survived by her three daughters, Debi ( Jim) Mengelos in Kennewick, WA, Jana
(Patrick) Blewett of Redding, CA and Rebecca (Bob) Gubser of Mesquite, NV; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Dayville, Oregon. Steward & Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted
with caring for Janette’s family. Online condolences may be left at www.steward-williams.com. Paid for by the family of Janette Joy Tureman.
