Department Assistant
Job Duties: Perform clerical
duties of a routine nature to
maintain and process records
and forms such as keyboard-
ing, word processing, filing,
data entry, record keeping and
receptionist work; does related
work as required. Organize,
file and retrieve materials and
documents, follow verbal and
written instructions, perform
basic mathematical operations,
learn various department proce-
dures and guidelines.
Screening Requirements:
High school graduation or
equivalent, preferably supple-
mented with office experience
or any satisfactory combination
of experience and training
which demonstrates the
knowledge, skills and abilities
to perform the above described
duties.
Necessary Special Qualifica-
tions: Must have an acceptable
criminal background and must
maintain this qualification at all
times during employment. Must
possess and maintain a valid
motor vehicle operator’s license
and an acceptable driving
record. A criminal background
check will be conducted for the
applicant chosen.
Hours & Days: 19 hours per
week
Wages & Benefits: $16.44 per
hour – no county benefits

time. Assist with the preparation
of menus at least one month
in advance. Maintain sanitary
requirements of the kitchen and
kitchen equipment.

quantity food preparation, abil-
ity to communicate effectively
both verbally and in writing,
and to work cooperatively with
co-workers and the senior citi-
zen community; Current Food
Handlers Certificate.

Position Opening:
Grant County ESD is seek-
ing applicants for an itinerant
combined Special Education
Instructional Assistant/Speech
Language Pathologist Assis-
tant. This position is for 7.5
hours per day – 4 days per
school week. Duties will be split
between serving students as a
Special Education Instructional
Assistant and SLPA. The SpEd
duties will be under the direc-
tion of the Grant ESD Special
Education teacher, while the
speech/language duties will
be under the direction of the
Grant ESD Speech Language
Pathologist.
Requirements:
• Possess an associate’s
degree or be able to pass the
paraprofessional certification
assessment test
• Currently licensed with the
Oregon Board of Examiners for
Speech Language Pathology
and Audiology for SLPA duties.
• Ability to respect student
confidentiality and abide by all
FERPA rules and regulations
• Training in behavior and
de-escalation procedures
preferred
• Must be able to pass a
criminal background check and
fingerprint check
Compensation:
The successful applicant will be
placed on the classified salary
scale according to experience
and education for SpEd duties
(range is currently $14.35-
$17.45/hour), while SLPA duties
will be paid at the transitional
wage of $18.51/hour. Insurance
benefits are calculated at .8
FTE. This is a PERS-eligible
position.
