We Find You
What is Grant County Air Search?
Grant County Air Search was created to provide a first response air search unit for the Grant County Sheriff’s office
and Oregon State Aeronautics Division. Our purpose is to assist in the location of downed aircraft, lost hunters and
other missing person primarily in the Grant Count area.
The goals of the group are to provide a viable air search unit, promote aviation safety and proficiency and to provide
social activities for the membership.
Grant County Air Search meets for business and training on the 4th Tuesday of the months of January, March, May,
July, September, November, with a holiday dinner in December. We also have social events such as potluck dinners,
flights, and an annual community and fly in breakfast.
There is no age limit to become a member. We have two carafes of membership. A regular member must be at least
18 years of age. If you are younger than 18, you may become a junior member.
You do not need to be a pilot to be a member of Grant County Air Search. We have many non pilot members who
serve as aerial observers or assist in ground duties as needed during a search.
To be qualified as a search pilot you must hold at least a private pilot or sport pilot certificate, a current third class
medical certificate, have logged a minimum of 200 flight hours, and meet all recent flight experience requirements
as required be Federal Aviation regulations.
