4-H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing.
Youth complete hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture
and citizenship, through a positive youth development environment.
Members can concentrate on one focus area or they can try a variety of
programs throughout their 4-H experience.
Opportunities for involvement with the 4-H Youth Program:
• Volunteering
• Supporting our 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction
• Sponsoring 4-H Awards for Fair Recognition
• Sponsoring full/partial scholarships for youth to attend one of the many
available 4-H camps/leadership retreats
• Support annual fundraiser efforts including citrus or fireworks sales
2018-2019 Enrollment Fees have increased at the state level. We are seeking assistance to
help cover Grant County youth 4-H member fees. Please contact the local extension office if
you would like to assist.
What do members do for the Community?
Community Service is a big part of 4-H. Each Club does Community Service Projects in their
own community. Clubs participate in projects around the fairgrounds such as painting
panels, planting flowers and getting things ready for fair.
One of our largest community service projects is the Tree of Giving. Grant County 4-H
provides gifts for all the teens. We also provide the organizational piece of the project and
partner with DHS, Families First, Chesters Elves and our local Les Schwab Tire Center.
For larger donations and gifts such as endowments, estates, real estate, and monetary gifts
for Grant County 4-H please visit the Oregon State University 4-H Foundation for more
