‘Medicare 101’ workshop
• 6-8p.m., Blue Mountain Hospital
Experts from Oregon’s Senior Health Insurance Benefits
Assistance program will present. Anyone is welcome to attend,
particularly people interested in enrolling in Medicare, health
care professionals who work with Medicare recipients and non-
profit staff members who serve retirees or people with disabil-

attend. Walk-ins will be welcomed as space allows.
FRIDAY, AUG. 3
First Friday

Several downtown businesses will offer food, shopping and
fun and games. This month will offer a scavenger hunt to par-
ticipants. All are welcome to attend and support the participat-
ing local businesses.
The laboratory at Blue Mountain Hospital utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and is
staffed by caring and credentialed laboratory professionals, who are here for all
your laboratory testing needs. The laboratory is state-certified and participates in
the College of American Pathology Proficiency Testing Program. The Blue Mountain
Hospital Laboratory strives to provide quality healthcare close to home by providing
you with all of your outpatient laboratory service needs here in Grant County. We
offer our patients an extensive in-house test menu in the areas of Transfusion
Medicine, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis. The Blue
Mountain Hospital Laboratory also collaborates with St. Charles Health System and
the Mayo Clinic to provide our patients with the highest quality laboratory testing
available.

Cinnabar Mountain Playdays
• 9 a.m., Grant County Fairgrounds, John Day
Registration for the youth rodeo begins at 8 a.m. Contestants
are encouraged to dress in pink for the theme, “Tough enough
to wear pink.” Membership for participants is a $30 one-time
fee, and entry fees are $10 per day or $2 per event. The event is

Community health assessment meetings

A short presentation about the role of public health in the
community will be followed by a discussion of local health chal-
lenges, totaling approximately one hour. A community health
assessment is a systemic examination of health status indicators
in a population, used to identify and address the community’s
