Peggy J. Cloud

Betty Jo (Wyllie) Peterson-Sigler
April 13, 1937 - Feb. 21, 2018
Peggy J. Cloud, 82 of Littleton,
Colorado, passed away Feb. 21, after
a short but courageous battle with can-
cer. No services will be held.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1935, in the
family home in Canyon City to Dewey
and Mildred Benson. She attended Mt.
Vernon schools and graduated high
school in 1953. On Sept. 3, 1954, she
married Lyle Cloud in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by husband, Lyle;
children Ron, Roger, Karen and Kevin (Kim); one grandson;
siblings Loyce Phillips of John Day, Jack Benson (Marlene) of
Canby and Sherrie Allen (Harley) of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-
law Roger A. Cloud of Mt. Vernon; and many nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Betty Jo (Wyllie) Peter-
son-Sigler, 80, of Pendleton passed
away on Feb. 21. She was born on
April 13, 1937, in Klamath Falls to
Walter and Mildred (Smith) Wyl-
lie. She grew up in Dayville, where
she attended elementary school.
She later moved and attended Van-
couver High School, graduating in
1955. She attended University of
Portland and received her Bachelor
of Arts from University of Oregon in 1959.
She married Pete Peterson in The Dalles in 1958 and
welcomed two children. After their separation and divorce,
she married John Sigler in Woodburn in 1980. She traveled
throughout the United States, Europe and Canada, but her
favorite spot was the island nation of Grenada in the West In-
dies, where she met lots of friends in the later part of her life.
She was involved with planning commissions in Woodburn
and St. Paul. Her passion was education, and she served as a
Spanish teacher at Parkrose High School and as a substitute
teacher at Woodburn and St. Paul high schools. In 2004, she
moved to Pendleton where she enjoyed retirement. She also
loved huckleberry picking, fishing, puzzles, embroidery and
parties.
She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Pete Peterson,
and husband, John Sigler.
She is survived by her children, Kristen (Mark) Kirsch
of Pendleton and Dr. Ross (Dr. Wendy) Peterson of Ben-
ton City, Washington; four grandchildren; brother, J (Dixie)
Wyllie of Gresham; and two stepsons, Chris Sigler of San
Jose, California, and Tim Sigler of Portland.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring in Dayville.

Cancer Society in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.

James Neal Miller, 65, passed
away Feb. 17. A celebration of life
will be held at 1 p.m. March 17 in the
new gymnasium at Prairie City High
School, with dinner to follow in the
school cafeteria.
Miller was born Dec. 7, 1952, in
Prairie City. He was a lifelong resi-
dent of Grant County, including Izee,
Prairie City and Canyon City. He
loved the outdoors and was an avid
hunter and fisherman. He spent his entire working life out-
doors, logging and gold mining.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Miller; child Kristen (Cal-
vin) Simerson; stepsons Jason (Alessia) Cyrus and John Mi-
chael (Tami) Cyrus; brothers Chris Miller and Marty (Hollie)
Miller; sister Cathy (Patrick) Workman; three grandchildren;
nieces; nephews; extended family; and dear friends. He was
loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Terrie Miller.

Marla Coalwell
Marla Coalwell, 64, of John Day died Saturday, Feb. 24,
at her home. There will not be a service, but for those who
would like to make a memorial donation, the family sug-

Rosetta Riley
Rosetta Riley, 69, of Prairie City, formerly of Haines,
died Feb. 21 at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day sur-
rounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be
