Concert offers songs of the season Blue Mountain Eagle Grant Union Junior-Senior High School students set the tone for the season at their Wednesday, Dec. 13 holiday concert. The school’s old gym was packed as music director Lori Hart led the middle school band, high school band and ju- nior-senior choir. Some selections were tradition- al, such as “Let It Snow!” and “Car- ol of the Bells.” The choir also drew laughs from the audience with a song titled “The Twelve Days After Christmas.” • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Kimberly Rock Products pit, milepost 9 on Highway 402 Proceeds from the fundraiser shoot will go to the Spray Rodeo. The cost is $3 per shoot. A baked goods auction and chili cook-off will be held, and concessions will be avail- able by donation only. A fireworks show will be presented at dark. Three Grant County musicians perform with orchestra in Burns Blue Mountain Eagle Ski bus packages for Anthony Lakes available Blue Mountain Eagle John Day-Canyon City Parks and Recreation will again offer their Ski and Snowboard Bus Program to Anthony Lakes Ski Area. Trips are scheduled for three Saturdays in the new year, including Jan. 13, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3. Julie Larson, who is co- ordinating the trips, said ski packages could be purchased for all three of the dates, or just one or two. She’s encour- aging participants to travel on all three ski bus trips, if pos- sible. “It’s a great sport for in- dividuals and for families to enjoy together,” Larson said. Shank is the director of the ski school at Anthony Lakes. and rental; youth package No. 2 is lift and lesson for $30; tiny tot package No. 3 for ages 6 and under is $65 (includes lift ticket, rental and private instruction with $20 for three trips); adult package No. 4 in- cludes lift and Nordic for $25; adult package No. 5 has lift or Nordic pass and rental for $35; and package No. 6 in- cludes the bus ride only. Larson is asking those in- terested to register at least a week prior to the travel date. Larson is taking over for former coordinator Gregg Whipple, and she said Whip- ple is still involved. Three local musicians joined the Chamber of Music Society of Harney County Sunday, Dec. 3, for a Christmas concert in Burns. Performing in the or- chestra were Grant Union Junior-Senior High School music director Lori Hart playing the euphonium, Grant Union sophomore Samantha Floyd on bas- soon and junior Alyssa Hoffman on the French horn, presenting a range of Christmas music at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene.
