Christmas concert delights audience By Angel Carpenter Blue Mountain Eagle There were praises aplenty for the performers and con- ductors after Friday evening’s “A Classic Christmas Con- cert” in John Day. Rebecca Bogardus of Day- ville and Janine Goodwin of Prairie City directed a variety of Youth Arts Program groups with musicians ranging in age from 7 to adult, and the pair performed with some of the groups at the community event held at the United Meth- odist Church. “The children blew me away,” said audience member Eva Harris. “Christmas Time is Here” from the movie “A Charlie Brown Christmas” was one of several songs presented by the junior choir. “I’m so proud of all the groups,” Goodwin said. “They did better in perfor- mance than rehearsal, and that shows they knew their parts and were ready to perform.” An intermediate choir, two guitar groups, a string ensem- ble and a show choir also per- formed. Eleven members serve three year terms and meet semi-annually to provide guidance and assistance to local OSU Extension staff in planning, developing, and evaluating balanced educational programs directed to high priority needs of county residents. Nine members serve four year terms and two alternates serve two year terms, meeting as needed to review land use and zoning applications and discuss city and county growth issues and the siting of new facilities.
