Grant Union High School’s FFA
chapter members collected 200 pounds
of canned goods for the Grant County
Food Bank in John Day.
And 120 pounds of food were collect-
ed at Les Schwab Tire Center in John Day.
Grant Union FFA president Kori Jo
Girvin said she was glad their group was
involved in a positive activity.
“I enjoyed getting our chapter out in
the community, and showing who we are
and what we’re trying to do,” she said.
“It will help our small chapter succeed.”
Les Schwab was one of 70 stores par-
ticipating in the food drive, store officials
said in a Nov. 13 press release.
FFA advisor and Grant Union teach-
er Adam Ineck said he appreciated those
who contributed this year, and they plan

“I’m continuously amazed at the
generosity and the outpouring of com-
munity support to participate in activ-
ities like this for the benefit of oth-
ers within the community,” he said.
“Things like this are what makes this
community a great place to live, work
and raise our youth.”
He added, “It’s always good to see
young adults actively involved in a pos-
itive manner for the betterment of their
own community.”
