And 120 pounds of food were collect- ed at Les Schwab Tire Center in John Day. Grant Union FFA president Kori Jo Girvin said she was glad their group was involved in a positive activity. “I enjoyed getting our chapter out in the community, and showing who we are and what we’re trying to do,” she said. “It will help our small chapter succeed.” Les Schwab was one of 70 stores par- ticipating in the food drive, store officials said in a Nov. 13 press release. FFA advisor and Grant Union teach- er Adam Ineck said he appreciated those who contributed this year, and they plan G RANT U NION Grant LeQuieu Grade 11 Parents: Marc and Stephanie LeQuieu to hold the drive again next year. “I’m continuously amazed at the generosity and the outpouring of com- munity support to participate in activ- ities like this for the benefit of oth- ers within the community,” he said. “Things like this are what makes this community a great place to live, work and raise our youth.” He added, “It’s always good to see young adults actively involved in a pos- itive manner for the betterment of their own community.” HOSTS BLOOD DRIVE Reagan Shelley Grade 12 Parents: Curt and Elizabeth Shelley Grant Union sophomore Emily Springer finishes up at the American Red Cross blood drive held Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the school. The Red Cross collected 27 units of blood, including four double red, and they had 13 first-time donors.
