MANAGER OF SAFETY AND LOSS CONTROL
Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative
(OTEC) with headquarters in Baker
City, Oregon, has an opening
for Manager of Safety and
Loss Control. This position is
based in the Baker District Office
and supervises an Administrative
Assistant. Bachelor’s Degree in
Safety Management which may be
substituted for a minimum of seven years’ experience in
electric utility construction and maintenance; demonstrated
knowledge of electric line crew operations, electrical
principles and safety codes in a related field beyond a high
school diploma. May be required to assume supervisory
“on-call” duties. Valid Oregon driver’s license is required.
(Class A Commercial Driver’s License, CDL preferred)
preferred. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
Expert knowledge of safety and regulatory considerations
in connection with electric distribution and transmission
systems. Experience and a thorough understanding of
OSHA, NESC, NERC reliability and DEQ hazardous waste
regulations are very important. A journeyman lineman
background is a high priority to be able to understand the
complexities of this position. Experience presenting to large
audiences and excellent written and oral communication
skills are desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint as well as experience creating and managing a
budget. Responsible for proposing and updating policies,
procedures and corrective measures with regard to safety.
Responsible for conducting OTEC’s community outreach
safety programs to the public. This position requires that
the employee has no restrictions on hours of work and

The John Day Swim Team is a
member of the Cascade East
Swim District. We aim to pro-
vide a team oriented, positive,
learning environment where
each swimmer can achieve his
or her potential by developing
and refining skills in the sport
of competitive swimming. As
a team, we strive to ensure
a quality, competitive swim
program with high regard for de-
veloping good sportsmanship,
character, technique, and over-
all health. The John Day Swim
Team is a summer, recreational
program with swimmers from
ages 5 to 18 and all ranges of
ability. Our team typically is be-
tween 50 and 65 athletes who
compete in 4-5 weekly swim
meets and a District Champi-
onship meet to conclude the
competitive season. Our 2018
season begins in June and
ends the last weekend of July.
Duties/Responsibilities: Head
Coach shall attend all practices
and meets; Teach technique to
swimmers; Provide leadership
and instruction to swimmers in
the four swim strokes and prop-
er technique for turns, starts,
and relays; Attend meetings
conducted by the JDST Board
and all family meetings; During
swim meets, will be expected
to engage with the swimmers,
watching their races, provid-
ing pre-race encouragement
and post-race consultation;
Motivate and increase swimmer
participation in practice and
meets; Teach and promote
team sportsmanship among
swimmers; Participate in team
sponsored activities (Kick-
Off Information Celebration,
Fundraisers, End of Season
Celebration, Picture Day).
Head Coach must abide by all
USA Swimming and Oregon
Swimming Rules, Regulations,
and Requirements.
Time Commitment: Position
may begin with season planning
meetings between start of hire
and beginning of swim season.
The regular swim season
schedule begins in June 2018.
Candidates: Applicants should
have a minimum one year of
personal competitive swim-
ming history and a minimum
one year of group leadership.
Additionally, strong knowl-
edge of stroke fundamentals,
excellent communication skills,
and good organizational skills
are a must. Preference will be
given to those with experience
in athlete development, team
management skills and USA
coaching certification. We
desire candidates who will be
dedicated and committed to at-
tending all practices and meets
through the end of our competi-
tive season.
Condition of Employment: Suc-
cessful candidates must pass
a background check, including
fingerprinting, and provide
current certifications in CPR
and First Aid. Additional training
may be required upon accep-
tance of employment.
