Lynne Marie Wilson
Dec. 18, 1943 - Sept. 21, 2017
Lynne Marie Wilson, 73, a long-
time John Day resident, passed
away Thursday, Sept. 21, at home,
surrounded by family. At her re-
quest, no services will be held. Her
remains were cremated, and a small
family gathering will be held at a
later date.
Wilson was born Dec. 18, 1943,
in Newberg to Zelmer L. and Eva
M. (Noland) Culver. She attended
high school in Junction City, graduating in 1962.
Wilson loved music, teaching and playing the fi ddle. She
played fi ddle in several bands, the last being Yarrow. Al-
though she mostly taught violin, she was gifted with a nat-
ural ability to play any instrument. She especially enjoyed
jamming with friends and family. She enjoyed the outdoors,
Arizona desert, wildlife, fi shing and huckleberry picking.
She will be remembered for her quick-witted sense of humor
and missed by many.
She is survived by children Jeff (Brenda) Gran of Front
Royal, Virginia; Karen (Walter) Rodriguez of John Day; and
Debbie (Daran) Sagvold of McLeod, North Dakota; sibling
Robert (Billy) Culver of Murphy, North Carolina; 10 grand-
children; and eight great-grandchildren.

In a story last week about Prairie City City Council, it was
incorrectly stated Councilwoman Carole Garrison voted on a
proposal for a cellphone tower. Garrison abstained from voting
on the issue. In the same article, Public Works Director Chris
Camarena was paraphrased as stating the city water pumps
were on “borrowed time” when he was actually referring to the
city sewer pumps. The Eagle regrets the errors.

Obituary for Henry “Butch” Goslin
Henry “Butch” Goslin
passed away on October
11, 2017 in his home
surrounded by his loved
ones. His death was
following a courageous
10 month battle with
esophagus cancer.
Butch was born
in Prairie City,
Oregon to Hank and
Naomi Goslin on June
10th of 1954. He
attended school in
Grant County and
graduated from Prairie City high school in 1973. Over his life he
had many jobs including working for the forest service and many
years of doing construction with his longtime friend Shannon
Voigt. He was also the second-generation owner of his father’s
business “Hanks Sanitation”.
However, work was not what life was about for Butch, in fact he
often referred to it as a “four letter word”. He had lots of things
he truly enjoyed doing like hunting, fishing, reloading, traveling,
and spending time with his friends and family to name a few. To
him life was about living to the fullest no matter the cost. He put
his heart and soul into everything that he did and left a piece with
every person that he met.
Anyone that knew Butch knows what an impact he had on those
around him. He was known for having a heart of gold and of
course a way with the ladies, who he was never seen without.
serve you!
He was proceeded in death by his parents Hank and Naomi
Goslin, grandparents, and a few good ol’ boys along the way.
He is survived by his daughter Lacy Goslin of Pocatello, Idaho,
significant other Chelsey McDaniel of Prairie City, Oregon,
sister Lynette (Jim) Sullens and their children Tiffany, Jeremy
and Brady of Prairie City, Oregon, extended family Chuck and
Marti Boatman, Larry and Nanci Norris, Talon and Taron Case
of Burns, Oregon, and also by his lifelong friend and brother
Shannon Voigt and the Voigt family of Prairie City, Oregon.
A memorial “poker party” is scheduled in his honor on
November 4th in Prairie City, Oregon. It will be held where
he was known for spending his time, the shop, at
642 N. Johnson St, Prairie City, Oregon. There will be a
potluck dinner beginning at 4:00 pm so please bring a dish to
share. We will be playing cards and sharing stories around
6:00 PM and will end the night Butch Goslin style.

may be to Angel Wings Network which provides assistance to
