Blue Mountain Eagle
On Aug. 27, golfers teed
off to raise money for equip-
ment and projects for Blue
Mountain Hospital District at
the Blue Mountain Healthcare
Foundation Scramble at the
John Day Golf Club.
This year, the foundation’s
goals are to raise $40,000 to
update the heating and refrig-
eration at the Blue Mountain
Care Center in Prairie City.
Preliminary results show
about $7,000 raised at the golf
tournament. Not only do the
46 golfers contribute to this
goal, but many businesses and
individuals support the tourna-
ment as well.
By early afternoon, all the
golfers were back at the club-
house, ready for the barbecue
rib dinner being prepared by
Tim Unterwegner and Chris
Cronin. Prior to the meal, door
prizes donated by Ansel and
Judy Krutsinger were given
away, followed by the awards
for play.
In gross results, fi rst place
went to the Oster Profes-
sional Group team of Mitch
Saul, Brad Armstrong, Alex
Finlayson and Torin Foster,
and second place went to the
Southworth Brothers team
of Brad Smith, Billy Colson,
Matt Wenick and Jay Ken-
yon. In net results, fi rst place

team of Scott Myers, Charlie
Wilson, Connor Bromeling
and Colt Carpenter, and sec-
ond place went to Dr. Thom-
as’ team of Brandon Sickler,

and Bob Houser.
Besides being a fundraiser,
the tournament has fun, too,
and awards the teams with the
highest gross and net scores.
The highest gross went to
Team Mosier: Brenda Mosi-
er, Carmen Gardner, Wanda
Winegar and Denise Houser.
Highest net went to the Duke
Warner Realty team of Jena
Knowles, Sally Knowles, Jes-
sica Knowles and Shae Voigt.
Other awards presented
were KP (closest drive to the
cup on holes 4 and 13) to Sally
Knowles and Gary Miller, and
long drive to Nita Van Voorhis
and Connor Bromeling. All of
the winners donated their cash
awards back to the foundation.
The next event will be the
annual dinner and auction on
Oct. 21. This event will be
held at the John Day Elks

is “An Elegant Evening.”

Agatha Sofi e Immoos
Nov. 27, 1918 - Aug. 28, 2017
Agatha Sofi e Immoos, 98, of Rich-
land, Oregon, passed away Aug . 28,
2017, in Baker City, Oregon. A memorial
service will be held on Friday, Sept . 15,
2017, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist
Church in Richland, Oregon. Interment
at Eagle Valley Cemetery. Friends are
invited to join the family for a potluck
reception (side dishes and desserts) at the
Eagle Valley Grange.
Agatha, Aggie to most, was born Nov .
27, 1918, to Sverin and Anna Betschart in Baar, Switzerland. In
1931 at the age of 13 she, her mother and two older sisters, Annie
and Hedy, made the journey from Switzerland to the New York
Harbor. From there they traveled to Galt, California, to join her
father who had come the year before and found work on a dairy.
At the age of 15, Aggie found work as a nanny for Anthony
and Gladys Kennedy, caring for their two sons and daughter. Aggie
was always proud of the fact that she helped in raising the boy who
would become U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.
On March 6, 1937, Aggie married Lawrence Immoos. While in
California, they welcomed three sons, Robert, William and Law-
rence. While their children were young they moved the family to
Oregon, purchasing a ranch in Vale, Oregon. They spent 10 years
there, eventually moving to Bates, Oregon, where they built the
Austin House. They sold this business in 1963 and moved briefl y
to Joseph, Oregon, and then returned to Bates. In 1970, Lawrence
and Aggie retired and made their home in Richland, Oregon,
spending most of their fi nal years there. Lawrence passed away in
1982, and Aggie stayed there until last October when she moved
to Meadowbrook Place Assisted Living in Baker City, Oregon.
Aggie enjoyed traveling, returning several times to her home
country of Switzerland. She saw other parts of Europe, Mexico
and much of the United States. She spent many summers camp-
ing and fi shing with her family and was an accomplished knit-
ter. Aggie took pride in her appearance, never leaving the house
without looking her best. She had a surprising sense of humor
that will be missed by her friends and family.
Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Law-
rence, sisters Annie and Hedy, son William, and grandson Pat-
rick Immoos. She is survived by sons Robert and Lawrence,
