Attention
Parents/guardians
of Grant County
student-athletes:
By Oregon state law, every student-athlete who wishes to participate in
school-sponsored sports must have a pre-participation sports physical every
two years. The Strawberry Wilderness Community Clinic and the Grant
County Health Department have always tried to support our local high
school and junior high athletes by providing sports physicals at a nominal
fee. However, due to changes in requirements by health insurance
providers and our efforts to provide the best possible care to Grant County
youth, we will now be doing a full adolescent well-child exam at the time
of the sports physical. These are fully covered yearly by all insurance plans.
At adolescent well-child exams, we measure your adolescent’s growth,
screen for depression and other concerning conditions, perform a physical
examination, make sure immunizations are up to date, and counsel him/
her regarding health topics that are important for adolescents.
