Community garden seeks votes to win grant

Garden try to win grant fund-
ing with online votes.

County Fairgrounds in John
Day has been entered the
Seeds of Change grant pro-
gram, and people can submit
online votes for the program
every day until April 19 at
seedsofchangegrant.com.
Seeds of Change is award-
ing $310,000 in total grants
to 24 garden projects around
the country to promote the
value of food, farming, sus-
tainability and nutrition ed-
ucation. Two school gardens
will receive $25,000, two
community gardens will re-
ceive $30,000 and 10 school
gardens and 10 community
gardens will receive $10,000.

Helen Elizabeth Ricco
Helen Elizabeth Ricco, 98, of Prairie City passed away
Thursday, April 6, at Blue Mountain Care Center in Prairie
City. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April
15, at the Prairie Baptist Church with Pastor David Hoeffner
offi ciating. Vault interment will take place at the Prairie City
Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the Prairie City Se-
nior Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue
Mountain Care Center, Blue Mountain Home Health or the

Ann Wise
March 20, 1937 - March 29, 2017
Ann (Goebel) Wise, 80, of John Day passed away
Wednesday, March 29, in Bend. A celebration of life will be
held at 1 p.m. April 29 at the Bend Senior Center.
Wise was born March 20, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney
Foundation. Autumn Funerals Bend is in charge of arrange-
ments.

Nonna Faye Reyes, 61, of Bend passed away March 31.
Reyes was born July 16, 1955. No services will be held at
