Sat 8am-5pm, Closed Sun
The St. Patrick’s Day dinner and auction was our most successful CASA fundraising
event to date! We had 106 attendees along with multiple community businesses
and individuals who helped bring in about $8,000.00 for the program. Funds raised
from the event will be used to support our community’s most vulnerable youth
through advocacy, by allowing the program to recruit and train new volunteer
Court Appointed Special Advocates and to support our current volunteers by
providing quality ongoing training and supervision.
Silver level event sponsors ($250 and up) include: Cornerstone Surveying and the
Law Office of Robert Raschio.
A fantastic group of people were responsible for organizing and executing the
dinner and auction. Aaron Roth, Vice President of the CASA Board of Directors,
chaired the event planning committee, which included the entire Board of Directors
along with Kim Jacobs of Blue Mountain Hospital and Kimberly Neault of the Grant
County District Attorney’s Office. Ed and Margie McCrary prepared and served the
delicious prime rib meal, which was donated by Southworth Bros., along with The
Oregon Beef Council and Blue Mountain Hospital. An assembly of some of the best
bakers in the county donated 16 delicious desserts, which were entered into a
dessert auction. Jack Southworth worked his magic as the auctioneer for the
evening, which was a treat for all attendees. We had a wonderful group of 5 Grant
Union High School students who helped with serving and clean up.
We currently have seven active CASA volunteers serving 39% of the children
currently in care in Grant and Harney Counties. Our goal is to serve 100% of the
children in care. Current active Grant County advocates include: King Williams,
Rhiannon Bauman, Amy Charette, Valeen Madden, and Katy Nelson. In order to
serve all of the children in care, each county would need approximately 7-9 CASA
volunteers.
CASA is a State mandated program, although the
program only receives about 30% of our annual
budget from the State. The remainder of our
budget must be raised through fundraising, grant
writing, and private donors.
