Oregon Department of Forestry, John Day Unit is now hiring for seasonal wildland firefighter positions. ODF will
provide training. Positions are open in John Day, Long Creek, Monument and Fossil.
Positions typically run from early/mid June until October or longer depending on weather, but will accommodate
your schedule with school. Applicants must be 18 years of age at time of hire. Work schedules are 5 days per
week, 8 hours per day with potential for additional hours and days worked based on work/fire load. If you have

***Please Note: Before hiring and as a condition of hire, applicants will be required to pass the Work Capacity Test
(Pack Test) which is a 3-mile walk in 45 minutes with a 45-pound pack. If you are applying, you should start preparing
