were ready and excited to play,
and that always makes me hap-

The Tigers hosted Prairie

said his team would prepare to
play their best.

Panthers contributed, including
Zweygardt, Cassie Hire, Me-

The Tigers were missing
sophomore starter Kyla Emer-
son, who was out after receiv-
ing a knee injury in a game last
week. Emerson said she hopes
to return in time for the Feb. 16-
18 district tournament.
Tiger head coach Taylor
Schmadeka said their offense
wasn’t fully clicking, and some
changes he made in defense
didn’t work out as he’d hoped.
“I felt that was a mistake on
my part,” he said.
He said Denali Twehues
performed well, stepping in to
start her fi rst game.
“Ravyn Walker and Kend-
all Hettinga shot the ball really
well tonight, “ he said. “We just
couldn’t put it together at the
end.”
Zweygardt said she was
happy with how her Panther
team played.
“We relaxed on offense,
which really maximizes our
close-range shots,” she said.
Panther head coach Bo
Workman said the team shot
well.

Saturday night. “We had 10
turnovers against Enterprise
and eight turnovers tonight,
which is phenomenal.”
Eight Lady Pros were in
on the scoring during the bat-

“We continue to play
great defense, and we exe-
cuted well on offense, espe-
cially against Enterprise,”
Mosley said. “Ball control
was just exceptional.”
He added his younger
players had time on the court
against Elgin in part of the
third quarter and all of the
fourth.
In that game, Grant Union

The Tigers’ energetic start
put some of Crane’s main
players in foul trouble early in
the game, which helped Mon-

lead going into halftime.
Monument/Dayville was
hurt in the second half when a
couple Tiger starters fouled out.

the way to the end, but Crane
just made baskets at the end
when it mattered the most,”
said Tiger head coach Taylor

They were aggressive on both

with a high tempo. Faythe

Prairie City was up 42-26

Gold dances to
second in Canby
The Grant Union Gold
dance team competed for sec-
ond place Friday and Saturday
at the Canby Competition.
“The team performed real-
ly well this weekend, and I’m
very proud of the work they
have put into this routine so
far,” said Grant Union head
coach Kattie Piazza. “As for
our scores, they were right on
with our level of performance
and a good starting point that
we can grow from throughout
the season.”
Grant Union Golds’ com-
petition season theme is “Re-
volt,” a song by Nathan Lani-
er.
The team’s dance style is
a combination of lyrical and
contemporary, Piazza said.
“Overall, as a team, we re-
ally are coming into our own
and laying the groundwork
for a successful season,” Pi-
azza said. “These dancers are
all very talented, and I enjoy
coaching each of them and
am excited to see the fi nished
product in March.”
The Grant Union Gold
will give a halftime perfor-
mance when the Prospectors
host Imbler for basketball on
Saturday. The team also per-
forms at the Tuesday, Feb. 7,
game against Crane at Grant
Union.
