Grant County Sheriff’s Of-
fice is offering welfare checks
for people who may be at risk
because of winter weather.
“With winter weather upon
us, often times it becomes
difficult for some people to
get out and about and around
their properties,” Sheriff
Glenn Palmer said in a press
release. “For those that are

courtroom at the Grant Coun-
ty Courthouse in Canyon City.
The ceremony will include
David Thunell, assessor; Jim
Hamsher, county commis-
sioner; Mike Springer, sur-
veyor; Julie Ellison, treasurer;
and Glenn Palmer, sheriff.

To request the sheriff’s
office to check on someone
who cannot be reached by
phone or under normal con-
ditions, provide the name and
location of the person to the
sheriff’s office, 541-575-1131.
“During adverse weather
it is more difficult for some
to get out and get medi-
cation or supplies such as
food,” Palmer said in the
release. “Some people that
are more prone to falling
may have their safety com-
promised during this time
of year. This is just one of
those services that we pro-
vide to the citizens of Grant
County.”

A forest project on near-
ly 50,000 acres of land near
Seneca is entering its first
phase of receiving com-
ments.
Members of the Forest
Service presented the Flat
Vegetation
Management
project to the Grant County
Court Wednesday, Dec. 14.
The project includes land-
scape restoration activities,
biomass removal, landscape
scale prescribed burning
and forest road activities.

tion, 40 hours community ser-
