There was nothing
scary about Dayville’s
fourth annual scarecrow
contest.
Sixteen friendly scare-
crows lined the main street
through Dayville with a
variety of themes.
Ilah Bennet won first
place with her Minion
scarecrow. She and other
top-place winners were
announced at the Oct. 20
Fall Festival Community
Potluck.
There were 90 in atten-
dance at the dinner, held
at the Dayville Communi-

silent auction raised $400,
and all proceeds will ben-
efit renovations to the
community hall.

Honoring
Our Veterans
THANK YOU
The family of Mary Jane Allen would like to express
their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and
support that we received during the illness and loss
of our Mother. We have always known our Mom was
wonderful, but to see fi rsthand the lives she touched
and so many people that claimed her as their own
moved us deeply.
For their courage, hard work and
dedication to their country, we
salute the men and women of our
Armed Forces past and present.
It is because of their sacrifi ce
that America remains the land of
the free, and we thank them for
protecting our citizens and
our country.
Our thanks go out to Blue Mountain Hospital and the
nurses that lovingly cared for her, the staff at Valley
View who made her feel welcome in her last few days,
the members of the Church of Jesus Christ who supplied
us with meals and support and all the friends and family
that took the time to visit, provide meals, send fl owers
and cards and let her know that she made a difference in
their lives.
Wishing all of our veterans
a very happy Veterans Day.
Life will never be the same without her, but it gives us
peace to know that she loved and was loved by so many.
