Grant Union Prospector Chelsie Kodesh works
to keep the ball in play in the third set against
Kennedy.
Prospector Heather Mosley
moved Grant Union ahead with
several successful serves.
Prospector Chelsie Kodesh was
serving as Grant Union closed it
out for the win.
“After a terrific start against
Kennedy, I felt we let up a little,”
Speth said, adding she was proud
of the team for persevering through
the struggles and regaining focus.
“We were pleased with the
strong, positive turnout from the
community on Saturday, and ap-
preciate everyone who supported
us throughout the season,” she said.
She said they can’t afford to
let up at the championships, so the
team will fine tune their defense
and work on rotations.
“The girls have been focused on
the process all season, and we will
Wednesday, November 2, 2016
continue that process this week,”
she said.
Prospector Whitney McClellan
was happy with Saturday’s success.
“I’m really excited to see how
far we can go next weekend in
Redmond,” she said. “I love being
on the court with my teammates
and can’t wait to see what next
weekend holds for us.”
Teammate Hailie Wright added,
“We’ve had a good season so far
and came a long ways. I’m hoping
we’re ending the season well with a
blue trophy.”

the goal line, Prospector
Duane Stokes intercepted
Union’s pass on the Bob-

The Prospector defense
shut down Union’s next run
at the goal line. Reimers
soon scored again to make
it 20-0 going into the sec-
ond quarter.
Union running back

ceived a personal foul pen-
alty, followed by an off-
sides penalty. Reimers then
connected with Stokes on
a 35-yard pass for a touch-
down.
Grant Union stumbled a
bit, losing the ball on a fum-
ble. The Prospector defense
made a quick turnaround,
but the offense couldn’t
capitalize on it.
Again, the Prospector
defense made a push back,
and on their next posses-
sion Reimers blazed half
the field to the 5-yard line,
scoring on a keeper on the
next play.
Grant Union led 32-6 at
the half.
Highlights from the third
quarter include Reimers
scoring on a 64-yard keep-
er, and although the Pros-
pectors were pushed back
25 yards on a couple pen-
alties, Reimers connected
with Cauy Weaver for the
two-point conversion.
Each team found the end
zone again to end the game.
Deiter scored with Cam-
eron Hallgarth gaining the
two-point conversion for
Grant Union, and Union’s
Cole Baxter also scored a
touchdown.
“It was a great team ef-
fort,” Miller said. “The D
line was much improved
this game and held their
ground. Linebackers played
big.”
He said Reimers did a
great job leading the of-
fense.
“So much of what we do
offensively depends on our
quarterback’s
decision,”
Miller said. “He made good
decisions and got people
in the right place to make
plays. Our kids have done a
great job of improving ev-
ery week.”
After the game, Deiter
said he was happy with
the night’s outcome and
was looking forward to an
aggressive state playoff
game.
“All our hard work this
year has paid off,” he said.
