The Prairie City/Burnt
River football team made
a statement with a 52-12
homecoming win over the
Crane Mustangs Friday
the
night.
The team didn’t let home-
coming distractions or inju-
ries on the team keep them
from pulling out a big win.
Six Panther/Bulls were
out with injuries received
over the season, including

What I like best about my sport: “I like going
out every day and having fun with all my teammates.
Fridays are another highlight of playing the sport —
being under the lights with the crowd cheering us on,
and the cannon.” The Whiskey Gulch Gang sounds a
cannon at the start of the games, for each touchdown
scored by Grant Union and at the end of the games.
Coach’s Comment: “He has been a
great leader on this team and for our
offensive line which plowed the way
for over 400 yards of rushing last
week.” -Coach Jason Miller

broken arm.
Prairie City/Burnt River
head coach Darrel McKrola
said he was concerned they
wouldn’t be prepared for the
game, but the team had been
adding to their offensive
game plan, and the junior
varsity teams went to battle.
The Panther/Bull offense
was led by Tyler Belveal
with 205 yards rushing and
three touchdowns, followed
by Matt Siddoway with 78
yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Wyatt Wil-
liams added 49 rushing yards
and passed for 150, including
a 52-yard touchdown pass to
Conner Jones.
The team combined for
526 yards of total offense.
Williams led the way on
defense with 13 solo tackles
and ive assists, followed by
Belveal with 10 tackles and
eight assists.
Siddoway contributed a
quarterback sack on a fourth-
down play.
The Panther/Bulls pre-
vented the Mustangs from
scoring in the irst half.
“I’m proud of all the
boys,” McKrola said. “They

He plans to “add a bit to
the offense and get the boys
to grow with skills, and
work on blocking,” he said.
“Hopefully, we can execute
them and do well.”

week.
The team traveled to Maupin
Friday, facing South Wasco.
The Redsides won with scores
of 25-6, 25-23 and 25-10.
Monument/Dayville hosted
the Jordan Valley Mustangs on
Saturday for their homecoming
match, which the Mustangs
swept with scores of 25-16, 25-
22 and 25-15.
“We played well against
South Wasco and Jordan Val-
ley,” said head coach Tiffnie
Schmadeka. “We did some re-
ally good things in both match-
es, and we had some small mis-
takes in both matches that held
us back.”
She said the team will con-
tinue to work on communica-
tion and playing smart volley-
ball.
“We will have a good,
strong week of practices/games
this week and then will focus
on the district tournament,” she
said.
The Tigers hosted Grant
Union junior varsity at the
Monument court on Tuesday,
past press time.
Monument/Dayville travels
for a game against Harper/Hun-
tington on Friday, the time to be
announced.
