“He made it where we could
do what we wanted and got us
mounted so we could rodeo,”
Chad said. “He taught us all we
know and kept us on good horses,
growing up, and gave us cattle to
practice on.”
Chad added, “He passed it on
to us — all my cousins have done
rodeo growing up.”
He said he and his brother and
their cousin Trisha (Legg) Mc-
Coin of Terrebonne continue to
compete.
McCoin fi nished 17th in break-
away roping in the NPRA Year
End standings with $2,518.
Chad’s aunts and uncles were
also past rodeo competitors —
Jeff Finley, Larry Finley, Clay
Finley, Cindy (Finley) Legg, as
well as his mom Christy Finley.
Chad said he’ll continue to ro-
deo “as long as I’m able to keep
going at it, and as long as I’ve got
the horses to do it.”
