Josefa “Josie” Sevey, 83, of John Day
died Nov. 5, 2015, at Valley View Assisted
Living Facility in John Day.
Mass will be held with a vigil at 5 p.m.
Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St Elizabeth’s
Catholic Church, 111 SW Second St.,
John Day.
A light meal will be provided in the
Parish Hall, following Mass.
Josie was born on July 26, 1932, in
Pharr, Texas, to Jose and Agripina Guerra.
She married Glen Lewis Sevey on March 13, 1960, in Gold Beach.
She moved to John Day in the late 1990s, where she was a member
of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing and reading.
Survivors include her son, Ron Sevey of John Day; grandchil-
dren Brittney Henley of Gresham, Bill Sevey of John Day, Andrew
Hart of Gresham and Justin Hamner of Crescent City; three brothers,
Hector Guerra, Robert Guerra and Joe Guerra; sisters, Cynthia Al-
varado and Mary Webster; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Hart, and broth-
er, Thomas Guerra.

or St. Elizabeth Catholic Church through Driskill Memorial Chapel,
241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
Everett Ray Swayne, 79, of Mt.
Vernon passed away on Monday,
July 11, at his home. A rosary was
held July 14 at St. Elizabeth Catho-
lic Church. A funeral Mass followed
July 15 at the Catholic Church.
Everett was born on Aug. 14,
1936, in Radisson, Wisconsin, to
Chalmer Arthur and Flossie Rose-
land (Mathney) Swayne. He attend-
ed Estacada Union High School,
graduating in 1955. On June 6, 1955, he married Nancy
Lou (Turner) Swayne in Estacada. He served nine years in
the Army National Guard and then spent his career working
as a civil engineer technician for the U.S Forest Service for
27 years, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed bowling and both rifle and archery hunt-
ing. He was Brother Knight of the Knights of Columbus,
part of the Grant County Community Connection and the
Grant County Food Bank. He received the Knights of Co-
lumbus “Star District Award” and was a District Deputy
for many years, received a certificate of appreciation from
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and an award for 19 years
of outstanding bus driving for the Prairie City School
District.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lou Swayne of Mt.
Vernon; son, Jesse E. Swayne of Lakewood, Colorado;
daughters Faith Ann Swayne of Boise, Idaho, Regina Of-
ficer of Salem, Denyce Brannon of Kailua Kong, Hawaii;
nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-
great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chalmer and
Flossie; stepfather, Walt Ferch; and siblings, Billy, Wal-
lace, Phyllis and Carol.

rick, 98, passed away Monday, July
11, at Village Health Care Center in
Missoula, Montana, with her son by
her side.
Warrick was born Dec. 4, 1917, in

children; her parents were William Robb
Walker and Isadora Julia McCaffry.
She was a registered nurse for over
45 years.
She leaves behind two children, Bill (Cherie) Warrick of
Bend, and Bev (Rich) Perry of Stevensville, Montana; six
grandchildren, Bill (Jody) Warrick of Bend, Sheli (Todd)
Dolynuik of Portland, Rhonda (Chy) Ross of Everett, Wash-
ington, Angie (Kurt) Hodson of Bend, Christy (Shane) Mc-
Claren of Missoula and Kim (Casey) Kotthoff of Shonkin,
Montana; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grand-
children; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her four sib-
lings.
At her request, there will be no services.
Richard C. Sumner
Richard C. Sumner, 71, passed away Saturday, July 16, at his
home in Bend. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, at
the 1868 Room, 152 NW Fourth St., Prineville. A private burial
has been scheduled. Juniper Ridge Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.
C ORRECTION
In Everett Swayne’s death notice last week, the Eagle reported
he was 97 when he was actually 79. The Eagle regrets the error.

Case Brandon Miller was born
at 1:20 a.m. May 27 in Lander,
Wyoming, weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz.
and measuring 20 inches tall, to
parents Matt and Meghan (Smith)
Miller of Pavillion, Wyoming. Case
joins his 5-year-old brother, Holt.
Maternal grandparents are Brad
and Sonna Smith of Seneca. Pater-
nal grandfather is Dennis Miller
of Crowheart, Wyoming. Maternal
great-grandparents are Clifford and
Alena Smith of Canyon City and George and Susan Sintay
of John Day.
Donna Jo Walter died peacefully on July 7, 2016, with her family at her side in
St. Helens, Oregon. She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Dayville, Oregon, to Wilma Amis Larkin
and Donald “Pete” Taylor. She grew up on a ranch in the Dayville area. She was a country
woman at heart and her love of horses was evident, being named Princess of the Spray Rodeo.
She is survived by her four children, Kelly Wyllie, Robin Loper, Wendy Gladman and
Blair Walter, plus seven grandchildren: Julie and Evan Loper, Leah and Kevin Wyllie, Janessa
Gladman and Taylor Andexler and Chelsea Malone.
She attended Lower Columbia College and received her associates degree in 1985,
working later as a counselor. Donna was a talented woman, a pianist and accordion player. She was an avid reader
with special interests in history, philosophy and politics. Donna was an exceptional iceskater. She was an
accomplished seamstress well known for her creation of amazing costumes for young and old.
One of her greatest passions was volunteering in the local schools as a tutor under the Foster Grand parents
program. Teachers and students looked forward to Donna’s arrival every morning!
Donna had a sense of humor, often entertaining friends and families with her witty little songs and poems.

• Sit back in the saddle and let go of the horn.
• Respect your teachers – they more know than you do.
• Be especially kind to old people, children and animals.
• Be able to laugh at yourself. It keeps you more humble and comfortable to be around.

Louise Tracy Wilson, 72, of Seneca passed away Monday July 4 th at the Saint
Charles Medical Center in Bend after a battle with pneumonia. She requested that there be
no memorial service held, so instead, the family had a BBQ/Potluck at the house
on July 17. Family and close friends who attended shared stories, tears and a few laughs.
Louise was the bravest, most loving woman we will ever know. She bravely faced
moving from this life to the next strong and determined to go showing her stubbornness to
her last breath.
“What a caterpillar perceives at the end as death, the butterfly perceives as the
beginning of life,” is how she felt. She had said the day before she passed that God had
talked with her that night and told her everything would be ok, and that it was time for her to go h ome, so she was ok
with going.
Louise Tracy Wilson was born on September 10, 1943 in Wendell, Idaho to Fred and Mable (Terpstra)
Postma. She attended and graduated high school in Richland, Oregon; once finished with school she ma rried her
sweetheart Warren L. Wilson on February 2, 1960 in Baker City, Oregon. They started their family in Halfway,
Oregon where they lived for a time; the family moved around a lot living in Idaho, Washington, Calif ornia, Montana,
and finally settling in Seneca, Oregon in 1985 where she spent the rest of her life. Warren worked i n construction
and Louise took care of the children. First and foremost our mother was a caregiver and homemaker, r aising her 5
children and 1 grandson. Our friends always called her Mom, and she never turned anyone down who nee ded a meal
or place to stay. She and her sweetheart Warren were married for 56 years.
She worked various jobs around Seneca and John Day; working at the Seneca Store and restaurant, Dair y
Queen, and the Cave In. She truly enjoyed the outdoors so she spent much of her time working Forest Service
contracts with Warren; it was hard work but she loved being out there and spending the time with War ren.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting; she could bring a deer down faster than you could blink, have it
skinned, gutted and hung before you got home from school. She made the best home canned version of v enison
you’d ever eat. She was also famous for her homemade bread, buns, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. She w ill be greatly
missed by everyone.
She is survived by her husband Warren Wilson of Seneca, OR., daughters Teresa (Brandon) Chaffee of
Richland, Tammie (Cory) Nielsen of Seneca, OR., sons Steve (Rhonda) Wilson of Burns, OR., Arley (Tif fany)
Wilson of Idaho, daughter-in-law Bonnie Wilson, 4 sisters, 1 brother, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-g randchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Steve Postma, daughter Tracy Wilson, son Warren Way ne
Wilson, and son-in-law Troy Daniels.
