Winnie and Brad Browning of Seneca had
quite an accumulation of hail in their yard last
Saturday as a low pressure system moved
through areas of Grant County.
HAIL
Continued from Page A1
Butch Phelps at the Dale
Store in northwest Grant
County said they received
dime to quarter-sized hail
with approximately 6 inch-
es of rain and hail covering
Highway 395.
“Most ditches are full,
and a tree was down, up
the road,” he said late Sat-
urday afternoon, noting
the hail had switched over
to rain.
In John Day, approx-
Prairie City School students of the month for
May are Rilee Emmel, grade 8, left, and junior
Sarah Ennis. Emmel was chosen by teacher
Louanne Zweygardt because “she is a hard-
working student who sets a good example of
character and maturity for her peers.” Teacher
Matt Goodwin selected Ennis for her dedication
to her classes. “Sarah is a very conscientious
and thoughtful student,” Goodwin said. “She
puts all of her mind into her work.”
imately 75 Oregon Trail
Electric Consumers Cooper-
ative customers experienced
a power outage Saturday af-
ternoon, but had it restored
about one hour later.
An OTEC offi cial said
wind from the thunderstorm
likely played a role in the
outage.
