Scott Myers said the county and
the city of John Day completed
a regional plan in 2013, but
Canyon City was not included.

Development Director Sally
Bartlett said she has applied for
a $30,000 grant, with a $5,000

requirements was a letter or
resolution in support of the plan
from the County Court. She
said she is operating with a May

“We’re going to try to do it
as quick as we can, but it’s
just a process now of getting
all these pieces approved,”
she said.
The court unanimously
approved a motion authoriz-

the plan, and Myers said they
would formally draft a letter
or resolution in support for
approval at a future meeting.

packed house in Long
Creek School’s multipur-

showed just how much
the community appreci-
ates and supports its local
emergency personnel.
Over 150 people turned
out for the dinner and auc-
tion, which raised over
$6,000 for additional train-
ing for volunteers and the
purchase of safety equip-
ment for the Long Creek
Ambulance Crew and Vol-

Bev Johns prepared her
noted strawberry bars for
the occasion’s dessert.
Gift baskets, household
and garden items, gift cer-
tificates, toys, artwork, a
handmade quilt and other
treasures were among the
items up for bidding in live
and silent auctions.
This was the third year
for the event, which was
hosted by the Long Creek
School Booster Club,
Long Creek Historical So-
ciety and the city of Long
