JOHN DAY — On Feb.
21, we had approximate-
ly 32 diners for a lunch of
chicken margherita (bal-
samic vinegar-glazed chick-
en) tossed with linguine,
garlic toast, mixed veggies
and sugar cookie bars.
Ron Dowse and Tracy
Andrew greeted us. Tracy
is our newest site council
member.
Joyce Nodine and Ineta
Carpenter from the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints were our servers,
and they also delivered 18
lunches and 20 frozen ones
to shut-ins. Joyce led the
flag salute, and Ineta asked
the blessing.
Veanne Weddle an-
nounced there will be ser-
vices here at the center for
Becky Stewart on April 23.
Also, thank you to Tracy
Andrew for the eggs.
Ron Dowse won the
Len’s Drug gift certificate,
and Ken Henry won the free
meal.
On Feb. 25, we served
approximately 64 diners
in-house, and there were 29
meals delivered by David
Turner and Jim Maple. Our
lunch consisted of roast-
ed pork, mashed potatoes
with country gravy, green
bean casserole, green salad,
dinner rolls and rocky road
mousse.
The entrée was furnished
by Jean Willey in memory of
her late husband, Bob. Ron
Dowse and Margaret Glass
greeted us, and our servers
were from St. Elizabeth
Catholic Church. Walt Hall
led the flag salute, and Jim
Maple asked the blessing.
Servers were David Turner,
Walt and Agnes Hall, Jim
Maple and Joan Vetter.
Veanne
announced
there will be no bingo on
Thursday, March 17, and
the kitchen will be closed
Monday, March 21, for in-
stallation of the new floor.
Remember, there will be no
lunch that day. Our cook
Shay extends a great big
thank you to Linda Stoltz
and David Turner for all
their help in the kitchen.
You guys are great.
Vicki Stolz won the
Chester’s Thriftway gift
certificate, and Buzz Harris
won the Valley View lunch
for two.
On Thursday, March 3,
we will have beef tips with
noodles and brown gravy.
Monday, March 7, is going
to be a surprise, because
our cook will be gone hav-
ing surgery. I’m sure who-
ever steps up to the plate
will have a good lunch for
us.
Psalm 42:5 “Why am I so
discouraged? Why so sad? I
will put my hope in God! I
will praise Him again my
Savior and my God.”

MONUMENT — We
had a nice meal of chick-
en-fried steak, mashed
potatoes with gravy, corn,
dinner rolls and choco-
late birthday cake that our
cooks, Terry Cade and
Christy Howell, put togeth-
er for our Feb. 23 lunch.
Made your mouth water
just reading it right? We
had Bodean Andersen and
Linda Blakeslee for our
greeters. Hope Bob, Jimmy
and Marva all feel better
soon. All three were sick
with the cold going around
over here. Bodean led the
flag salute, made the an-
nouncements and prayed
the blessing over our meal.
The free meals were won
by Ed Falls and yours truly.
We had 42 guests attending
and 17 take-outs.
Our fundraiser chairper-
son Judy Harris is planning
a Buckaroo Feast and Har-
vest Auction for Sep. 24.
Any ideas or suggestions
are welcome.
Congratulations to Jake
and Sahara Derowitsch on
the birth of their daughter,
Brinley.
A CPR class will be held
on Wednesday, March 2,
at the Monument Senior
Center. Our instructor will
be Rose Howe. The class
is available to the whole
community. The Monument
Service Club will provide a
free lunch for those attend-
ing the class, which is also
free.
There will be a Spring
Rummage Sale Friday and
Saturday, May 13 and 14.
Contact Sylvia Cockrell,
Karen Stubblefield or Judy
Ensign for more informa-
tion. There will be pie and
coffee available for pur-
chase. They are accepting
clean and in-good-shape
clothing items.
The third annual fire de-
partment dinner will be on
Saturday, March 12. Tick-
ets for purchase are $10 for
adults and $5 for kids ages
4-10 years of age. The din-
ner times are 4 p.m. and 6
p.m. Boyer’s will cook the
meat for the dinner. This
fundraiser is for better
communication equipment
for our fire department.
There will also be an auc-
tion for dessert items.
There will be a sew-
ing class from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. on Saturday, March
5, at the Monument Senior
Center. Judy Harris will
have a project all ready to
be sewn together when you
come. Just bring a potluck
dish to share, your sewing
machine, and come to hang
out with some fun ladies!
Whew! So many things
going on and coming up, no
wonder I’m so tired! Went
to a funeral this past week-
end and got to meet and
make some new friends. Ka-
tie Johns from Fox, it was a
pleasure meeting you, and I
hope you will come join us
with your friend to the sew-
ing class this coming Satur-
day!
I can’t believe that March
is here! There is so much
to do, so much to plan, so
little time. I am squirming
in my chair just thinking
about my list. I wish I was
a more organized person so
I wouldn’t be in such a tizzy.
I shall have to write things
down and put the list in a
safe place. The only problem
is that I always forget where
that “safe place” is! Ha. It
happens to me all the time,
literally.
Luke 6:38 “Give, and
it shall be given unto you;
good measure, pressed
down, and shaken togeth-
er, and running over, shall
men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure
that ye mete withal it shall
be measured to you again.”
