PRAIRIE CITY — Prairie
City’s Dorran Wilson led the Pan-
thers last weekend in double dig-
its, earning 26 points against Adri-
an and 28 against Burnt River.
The Panthers suffered a 55-
57 heartbreaker to Adrian on the
road Friday, but came back for
a 79-46 win, hosting the Burnt
River Bulls.
“We came up a little short last
night, but the kids fought really
hard,” said head coach Jona-
thon Gill after Saturday’s game.
“They came together as a team,
and it rolled into today. We’re
right where we want to be at this
point in the season. It was a good
team win tonight.”

Prairie City faces Dayville/
Monument in Dayville on Friday
with the girls game beginning at
6 p.m.
“We worked hard and played
hard,” Gillihan said of the game.
“Everybody tried to work togeth-
er and came together. Hopefully
it will be where we want it on Fri-
day. We’ll work hard in practice.”
Wilson added, “We did a
good job moving the ball and got
the open looks.”
He said, after the Adrian
game, they know they have room
for improvement.
“We know what we need to
work on in practice,” he said.
“I think we’re at a really
pivotal point in our season,”
Camarena said. “Hopefully, we
build off of this weekend and
carry it over to the rest of league
and hopefully to districts.”
JORDAN VALLEY —
The
Dayville/Monument
boys basketball team is at the
top of High Desert League,
with a sixth-place OSAA
ranking.
The Tigers have an over-
all record of 13-3 and are 4-0
in league.
When asked what is giv-
ing his team an edge this
year, head coach Jeff Schafer
pointed to the team’s unity.
³7KH\¶UH XQVHO¿VK WKH\
care more about team than
individual and they trust each
other,” Schafer said. “Even if
they’re having a bad game,
they’re willing to give it to
the team. They work hard for
each other.”
The Dayville/Monument
boys and girls teams were
on the road for league games
last weekend, facing Jordan
Valley, then Adrian.
Dayville/Monument boys
Jordan Valley, ranked No.
21 (10-4, 3-1), presented the
Tigers with a challenge to
keep the top spot in league.
Dayville/Monument fell
EHKLQGLQWKH¿UVWKDOIWUDLO-
ing by eight points.
“We stayed the course
and ended up winning,”
Schafer said. “We had some
guys step up, and Hayden
Schafer was high-point scor-
er with 17.”
He added, “The boys
played really good defense.
Jordan Valley is a tough
team, and it was a good game
to coach.”
Against Adrian the fol-
lowing day, the Tigers
jumped out to a 15-point
lead.

The Tigers host the Prairie City Panthers on
Friday at 6 p.m. beginning with girls varsity. In

Four Tiger starters scored
in the double-digit range,
and the team had well-round-
ed scoring, Schafer said.
He noted the Antelopes
have a young team this year,
but said they have a good
coach, Nolan Shira, who will
lead the team to success.
“They’re always tough,”
Schafer said.
Dayville/Monument girls
The Lady Tigers (7-9,
2-2), coming off three con-
secutive wins, took losses in
last weekend’s games.
They fell 54-62 to Jordan
Valley, currently ranked No.
11, and 29-53 to No. 8 Adrian.
Looking ahead, the Tigers
will host the Prairie City Pan-
thers in Dayville on Friday
with girls games starting at 6
p.m., and they host Crane in
Monument on Saturday with
the girls games starting at 2
p.m.
