Dog House
Guard House: Boys
many of you have been
running hog wild. You
have done as you pleased
and many never knew the
meaning of the word “dis-
cipline.” But bear in mind,
that when you get into
the army, they have what
they call the guard house
and which is something
like the dog house that we
have in civilian life. For
a hangover in domestic
life, it is the dog house;
in the army it is the guard
house.

6-Year-Old Finds Way
Out of Hills
Greg Johnson, six-year-
old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Connie Johnson of John
Day, walked about seven
miles out of a deer hunting
area Saturday afternoon,
Oct. 23, when he became
separated from his hunting
party.
The trek took him down a
trail from the Waterman Flat
area to Jim Cant ranch be-
low Picture Gorge where he
waited for the hunting party
to return.
An unidentified Seneca
family discovered him on
Highway 19 near the Cant
home, and gave him a ride
to his parent’s house in John
Day. The Sheriff’s office,
with help from Dayville
mayor Paul Grindstaff, noti-
fied the hunters of the boy’s
recovery.
