‘Loved – The Farewell Tour
6:30 p.m. Friday, Baker City Nazarene Church
The event, which features 10 speakers inspiring women
with compelling stories and humor, as well as live music
and shopping, will be simulcast from Baker City Nazarene
Church, 1250 Hughes Lane, Baker City. Friday’s activi-
ties start at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday’s schedule runs from
8:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Admission is $25 a person or $10 for
students, and includes a catered lunch and refreshments.
Tickets are available at Len’s Drug in John Day and Prai-
rie Hardware & Gifts in Prairie City. Call the church at

Author reading and fundraiser
4-6:30 p.m., Canyon City Community Hall
Former Grant County resident Sam Cronin, author of
“Warm Gold,” will host an author reading, followed by a
question-and-answer period and book signing. Copies of
the book will be available to purchase. The informal event
is a fundraiser with 30 percent going to families affected
by the Canyon Creek Complex Fire.

Annual church Christmas sale

Members of United Methodist Church’s “Ye Old Thrift
Shop” will hold their annual Christmas sale in the church’s
fellowship hall. Items such as Christmas decor, ornaments,
kitchen items, holiday tins, clothing and much more will be
for sale.

Mt. Vernon Fire Dept bazaar
8 a.m.-4 p.m., Mt. Vernon Community Center
Get started on that holiday shopping by supporting lo-
cal crafters who will have a variety of gifts, decor, jewelry
and more for sale. The Mt. Vernon Fire Department crew
will serve chili and corn bread for $5 a person. Bring a
canned food item to support the department’s Christmas
food basket drive for the elderly, and get a free raffle
ticket for several drawings to be held throughout the day.
The department also welcomes donations for their baked
goods table; items may be dropped off at Mt. Vernon City
Hall Nov. 12 and 13. Tables are still available. Call 541-
