Program Overview: The Grant County Library Foundation has been assisting
the Grant County Library for over 20 years. By working together, the
Foundation and the Library have been able to improve library services in Grant
County. In the past, funding provided by the Foundation has allowed for a
workroom addition on the library building, expanded the collection, and
supported the Summer Reading Program.
Currently, the Foundation is planning to build an energy-efficient and low
maintenance library building that will be easily accessible to the public and will
serve our county well into the future. This new building will meet ADA
standards and provide space for meetings and classes, computers and special
collections as well as the current library collection. We have purchased the
property on Canton Street in John Day, beside the Kam Wah Chung Interpretive
Center, as the site for the new building. That transaction was paid for by grants
and local donations. The Foundation is continuing to fundraise so that we can
design and build the new structure.
